I'm not asking politically what it meant to anyone. What I ask is: Was it a good speech? Did his daughters look hot? Was it a good show?
Socially how was it impacting? Not politically. I honestly don't care politically how it affected anyone at this point. That will be discussed else where.

For any who missed it, just go back and dust off your old copies of StarCraft and go beat the original Terran Campaign. Listen to the speech by Mengst and you will have the very feel of what that speech was like. Or, if that is not your cup of tea... go pull out any Warhammer 40,000 rulebook dealing with the Imperium or play a copy of Dawn of War. Listen to the propaganda that the Imperial Troops spout and you get the general idea. Pretty much the feeling you get from the speech is the declaration of an Empire without ever actually saying it. Go listen to it and read the transcript of it at the same time with a bunch of poli-sci students and it will be as clear as day...
So, celebrate the last days of our republic and prepare for the rise of the Second Roman Empire...
or to quote Eddie Izzard... for those who might be familiar with the English comic...

No no no, that is a political stab. Don't do that, we can't get into that. And... it really, really, reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally pissed me off. So much to the point I want to throttle you, or atleast respond to it in a political manner. But we can't debate politics anymore...and that just fuels the fires.
