This topic came up at my store the other night and I decided to put this to ya'll.

Unconditionally, could a woman ever deserve to be hit by a man. To state it another way, unconditionally does a woman hold a place in society that protects her from physical harm that a male could inflict.

Please read carefully and think for a few moments before answering.

id never hit a woman in anytihng but self defence and im ashamed to admit ive been in that situation once, myself and chixie were arguing and she went to hit me as her mum was coming up the stairs, she missed, but her mum thought id hit her coz she'd fell to the floor and decided to hurt me by strangling me,, so to get her off me i hit her, but while she was strangling me, chixie was hitting me too so i ended up hitting her, i was arrested and they were in hospital from what they thought were broken noses. im not proud of this in anyway at all, but hopefully it'll show u what i think of hitting women

also my step dad used to beat my mum up and if i tried to defend her he'd try to break my legs, men who hit women for the sake of it disgust me and as ive already stated id only hit a woman or anyone for that matter in either self defence or if my family was in danger

..in my opinion it doesn’t matter what gender you are.. no one has the right to physically or mentally abuse another person.. Self-defense is self defense no matter what gender you are. I’m not saying beat the crap out of the person attacking you... just stop them.

Sketch, you hit my next point. Had someone stated that under no circumstance should a woman be hit because she is a "woman," I would have countered with the point of that statement is sexist. People in general don't derseve to be assaulted unless they are the victimizer. Why does social rules dictate that you don't hit women?

While I can't say I would never strike a woman, I would go to great lengths to avoid it. I would take quite a few blows to avoid it. The only way I would ever consider hitting a woman was if I was under threat of severe bodily harm, if I did not act to stop it.

This comes for a few things, one I am more of a pacifist by nature and try and avoid violence with any one. Also I am about 6'3" and slowly working my way up to 200 lbs, so I could hurt the average woman allot easier she could hurt me. And I was just raised not to strike a lady lol.
If a woman was ever trying to hit me I would just walk away from the situation and let things cool down. If for some reason that were not possible I would physically restrain her without actually using violence until I could get out of the situation. Only in the case of either of those not working or she had a weapon would I even consider striking her.

I don't think that it is so much that a woman holds a place immune from physical harm in society. How I view it is that men should ideally hold a more of a protectorate role, Not that I think women are incapable of protecting themselves. It's just I would rather put myself in harms way and risk injury to myself, rather than a woman. So it reflects inversely that the protector should not be the aggressor. And that’s where I think the notion of not striking women comes from.

Im gonna have to say reaper and B nailed it for me, i feel the exact same, except im only like 5'5. I don't really wanna hit anyone, but unfortunately sometimes its a nessacary evil, and thankfully im strong enough to make sure its effective Neutral

im with reaper too, and like i said, it was an extreme circumstance where i dont thinbk she was gonna let go of me, so i HAD to do sometihng and like i said, no matter what is said to try and make me feel better about it, ill always be ashamed

Hitter back just hard enough that she doesn't want to hit you again. Stop the fight, but do it in a way that is the least harmful.
