So there is no conceptual doubt of the popularity of many a series. I found this list to be very well balanced. I was even surprised by how high up some of the more older and longer lasting series stood up to many new contenders, and just to tickle some ribs here's the top ten.

I don't think the list was very fair, given that the votes were cast in terms of current popularity. Some of those shows were huge when they first came out.
But I find it hilarious that Tom and Jerry made the listing  Thank you for sharing =) |

Interesting. I'm thinking that for someone like me, who is trying to get into anime as much as I can, this is probably a good resource and a good starting point.
I really don't understand the Tom and Jerry thing though...is that referring to the American Tom and Jerry? Because I really hate that cartoon... |

It's just odd to me that out of all the cartoons that we have in the United States...Tom and Jerry is on their list. TOM AND JERRY! I would expect something very different...although like you said, you never know what and why someone likes something. |

I'm really suprised that Neon Genesis Evangelion didn't rank higher considering the records it has broken and its history. I've spoken to one of Gainax's (studio that made Eva) representatives a lot, and it's quite common in the anime business now to refer to Eva as a central point. Lots of shows are defined in terms of "before Eva" and "after Eva" in the industry. Oh well, it ranks number 1 in my book. =P I like that it screws with me, heh. |
