I think this will all end with a DC crossover of Batman and Punisher killing everyone that's male and orgicising all the females.
Oh and Robin gets his head ripped off and fed to Nightwing who in turn dies of cannibalism disease or something. |

Second, They're shocking us just for the sake of shocking. I mean, who would've guessed that Cap would stand up and say "Damn the Man"? And Spidey has gone to such great lengths to conceal his identity... now all of a sudden he's the poster child for "Heros: Out of the Closet '06". |
I blame Ironman for the whole Spiderman thing. So far from what I can tell, Ironman's been putting ALOT of pressure on Spidey to support his side of the war. Constantly, again and again. He Started out setting up Spidey to fight some villain while Stark tried to haggle with congress about the Registration act, and now he's pressured Parker into revealing his identity. I think Stark's reasoning is that if Spidey of all people unmasks, it'll encourage others to their side. I think ultimately what's gonna end up happening is that Parker will get fed up with Stark and defect to Captain America's side. |
The Cap thing isn't a surprise at all. Anyone who knows about cap in the 80s knew he would never go with this. Back when they had the mutant registration act, he quit because the government wanted him to hunt down mutants. He retired for awhile and they replaced him with a new guy. Eventually he came back in a black costume, calling himself The Captain. After several run ins with the new Captain America and the end of the mutant registration act, he decided to be Cap again. The other guy wore the black costume and became U.S. Agent. I'm sure you've heard of him at least a couple times. He's not a bad character, but not a particularly good one either. (Small side note: The Mutant Liberation Front that was a major part of Xmen in the 90s first apeared in an issue of Captain America back in the 80s.)
Actually, Aunt (shoulda stayed dead) May was the one who convinced him to do it. Some bs about people having a right to know who saved them.
I can tell you right now that he does definately switch sides. The cover to (i believe) issue #5 shows Spidey fighting Ironman. There's also an interesting cover for one of the Spidey books. It shows him with a severely screwed up iron spidey suit, surounded by his toughest villains. FYI: The current Venom looks like ass. It's apparently Scorpion or something stupid like that. Besides having a new symbol that just look like a bunch of lines instead of a spider, he's got these really stupid looking small eyes with a design around them to make it look similar to the old Venom. It fails horribly. |
