http://dev.newtontalk.net/~tokimi/japan_journal/index.html
I found this journal when I was searching for journals from people who had been to Japan. Now, I have been obsessively doing this for the past month or so and this is the ONLY journal I've found which cracks me up/boggles my mind so much!
This girl is so unhappy, and so miserable, and has such a bad attitude...I can't even believe she could consider going to another country, plus I think she didn't even want to.
What a waste.
Still...the entries can be really hilarious(at least they were to me) just because they are so negative.
I couldn't believe it^.^ |

Wow....she just...is not a happy type of person ^^; I couldn't read more than two pages. I'm not really in the mood to read somebody complaining, over and over. |

Goodness. >_> that's painful to read.
It's unfortunate really because there are so many people who would kill for that type of trip. Oh well. :p |

yeah that pretty much cracked me up.
It's wierd..I never thought it would be so funny to read someone else complain and just be an all around pain....and I dont think its really that funny...it's just so bizarre to me. I cant even imagine not enjoying youself as much as this girl is not enjoying anything! |

What a whiner. I read around 5 or 6 of the entries, and that person should clearly never leave their hometown. They might be exposed to a different way of life, or a different style of food. I didn't like everything about my time in Japan, but the good outweighed the bad, and I never bitched about it. |

Having done a nine month study abroad program that hosted 147 students from around the world during the fall semester alone, I can honestly say it's surprising how many people (read: Americans) go to a foreign country without even thinking about eating different types of food, living in a society that has completely different values and a completely different family structure, and still go over there expecting that everything will stay the same as back home or change to be just like home. Even tourists. I left stores multiple times just because there were "ugly American tourists" shopping there, being utterly disrespectful.
Although I also have to say that the only thing I really thought of as a problem was a beaurocratic decision made by a group in Chicago about my housing situation.
Oh how I wish I were eating Japanese food and watching Japanese TV right now. I can make some things from regular grocery stores, but most of it requires a trip to one of the handy-dandy Asian Foodmarts of Absolute Glory over on Buford. |
