The problem is that Joker is homicidal for FUN..People you aren't realizing that the Joker doesn't kill people because he's crazy he does it because he gets a thrill out of it. Depp may play crazy but he can't do homicidally crazy.
Crispin Glover did "Thin Man" a guy who got utter JOY in killing people. He is also tall and thin and looks damn good in a Zoot Suit. |

I gotta agree. And as much as I LOVE Johnny Depp (been top of my top 5 list for more than his looks since I was born pretty much) Crispin Glover just has the total package for the part.
Nicholson is way too old (anyone see Something's Gotta Give? - love Jack - but OLD).
Depp did a good creepy Wonka but I seriously think they should give some honest consideration to Crispin. |

Sorry Gaaz!
So the rumors are true as WB confirms Heath Ledger for Joker. Well, they cast who they have and I swear he better kick it up a notch to play Joker or I'll be supremely disappointed in what seems to be the redemption of Batman in the movies.
Upon giving it more thought I did figure some new candidates. A little moot point now but I figure it was worth the toss up anyway:

Hmm, the only movie I liked Heath in was "A Nights Tale"
And he wasn't very Jokerish in it...*sigh* I just hope they don't kill him off this time. Batman Begins had a good ending because Scarecrow got away. I'm hoping they won't follow the original batman saga with the killing of key villians after one confrontation. |

Yea, although to be fair they stopped doing that towards the end of the series.
I was telling Doot earlier, I could SEE Ledger as The Joker, BUT I don't think he could ACT it. We'll have to see though :/ We're off to a good start. |

Damn, I was looking forward to seeing another Paul Reuben movie! Lest we forget his role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Mr Reuben has quite a range when he's not wearing a bow tie & punching his clown in theaters. I think he would have been a great Joker. Although I will not discount that Crispin would do it well either. But, given the original two choices I would have picked Paul. Of course, if Johnny Depp was the Joker it's garaunteed my wife would go see it! |

Furthermore, Joker will reportedly wear "raggedy" garb, which jives with earlier rumors that his outfit will be more like something he's thrown together than a costume per se.
Director Christopher Nolan is said to be going for a "scary" Joker rather than a clownish one, which would be in line with the realistic approach he took with villains Ra's Al Ghul and The Scarecrow in Batman Begins.
BoF adds that Warner Bros. will likely release an official image of Ledger as The Joker this summer to ward off spy snapshots from leaking out. |

HELLO?! The crowned prince of crime was scary as f*ck due to his laugh and mannerisms not his look! That was the point. Joker could easily be a normal person in his flashy suit but when he didn't cover up his white face he was a demon to be reckoned with. I am saddenned. |
