Earlier today, Capcom stopped the rumor mills by officially announcing that the latest installment of the Devil May Cry franchise will be making its way to both Xbox 360 and PC platforms. Unlike the discrepancy between 360 and PS3 game releases, the company also confirmed that the title will launch simultaneously for all three platforms.
Mark Beaumont, executive VP of software publishing for Capcom USA and Europe, said, "Capcom is committed to making its titles available to as wide an audience as possible, and has been building its technology base to meet that goal. This announcement means that PS3, Xbox 360 and PC owners worldwide will be able to experience the latest installment of one of Capcom's pillar franchises."
There's still no word whether Capcom will work out a PC distribution deal similar to the one struck last year with Ubisoft regarding Windows ports of Devil May Cry 3, Resident Evil 4, and Onimusha 3. The press release, did, however, state that "each version of the game will be maximized to take advantage of the systems' strengths, leading to a breath-taking visual and gameplay experience." Does that mean something other than matching Windows and Xbox Live achievements? We're not sure.
The press release also has not confirmed a release date for Devil May Cry 4. Stay tuned for more regarding the newest update to the blockbuster franchise as it comes along! |

And there goes another one.
I joked that Blu-ray might be the only reason that I would ever buy a PS3. I am really beginning to think that joke might become a reality...
So, anyone want to take bets on MGS4 going multiplatform? |

Honestly, I doubt Sony would let that one get away.
And just b/c everything is going multiplatform now doesn't mean it will stay that way.
It would be hard to convince a 3rd party to make a game exclusively for your platform when you have sold 2 Million and there is another system that is coming out that has sold between 9 and 10.
The PS3 will catch up.
Also, There will probably be other people out there that buy a PS3 just for Blu-ray at first. But then, there will be more systems sold, so companies will be more likely to do exclusives.
Right now, it doesn't make sense from a business perspective to have games exclusive.
Unless you are looking at something like MGS4 which is a system seller. Sony would be stupid to let that one get away. Personally I think they are stupid to let DMC away, but ... whatever. I'm getting my PS3 soon so I'll have the best of all 3 worlds. |

They were stupid for Assassin's Creed alone. Now, I really am wondering what the hell they are smoking.

I read this article. I think it's more of a statement saying that Sony is doing what they can to make it exclusive. |
