I can't believe I've never post a thread for my mass love for da pweety flowers!

I'm severely addicted to Lowes this season...worse than last year.
I'm a clearance plant whore...but I do have my standards for prices. I tend to have about an 80% success with those plants surviving.

Its a relaxing thing for me to do after work...You can find some really good deals that way...like the killing I made once where all the plants were 25 cents! Those were some of my best purchases. I have a big cluster of Hydrangeas in the back that I have finally completed via clearance. About 30 plants, various size that I spent between $3 and 25 cents...but an estimated value of about $500+! It cost me maybe $50 to do...the value only gets higher as the plants grow bigger too.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a garden, and a pretty darn big one at that. I had to write the Homeowner's Board last year to ask permission to plant outside my walkway and since they liked me and my letter so much, I was told I could do whatever I wished....I boy have I! I don't have any pictures to post since I don't have a proper camera to take any decent pics with to show anyone. Rolling Eyes

I started out pretty lost as far as what's what and how big x plant will get.(Like my Blue Salvia that's nearly 3 feet around!) But I'm working my way around it. Ga garden centers really don't give much variety anyhow. I know enough now about plants to where I can give some other customers advice on a plant...provided its one I've tried.

I took out a giant Holly bush back in April so I could make more room to do a veggie garden. It took forever to get it out but the giant hole it left was perfect to fill in and plant with...no real digging. Razz You have to plant tomatoes deep, so this made it really easy. It looked really cute when it was first planted...all young plants and some flowers mixed in. It's turned into a veggie jungle where you can't see the flowers anymore Rolling Eyes but I don't care as long as the plants are still healthy...and they are huge! I even have a little Japanese eggplant w/ one on it! Squee!!! It's going to take some acrobatics to gt to some of the plants...but it should still work out in the end...plus these won't last all year or anything...

Other parts of the garden don't look this jungle-like... Laughing

I still have some plantless areas too that I'm having issues with...and learning the hard way what plants work well where...

BUT, share the wealth and knowledge of plants! I hope I'm not the only one who does all this...lol

I don't know much about flowers, but I can tell you what my favourites are! ^^ I loooove lilies. Particularly star gazers and tiger lilies. ^^ I'd like to do a little bit of gardening at some point in the future, but right now I'm living in two different locations, so it'd be really tough. xD

I love orchids. But I think that might be because of The Orchid Thief. (book) XD

The watering ban doesn't help either...

I actually have been out there on many occasions after midnight watering the plants just so I don't have to make sure to get up early and do it...that and it won't matter if I get a little wet from the drippy hose, or dirty...not good right before work.

I get DLoe to stand guard for me on those nights too cuz I'm a little chicken about standing out in the dark...plus ppl tend to cut through my yard and through the neighborhood from the street...which is really scary sometimes.

I wouldn't say I'm all that great with them but I managed to get 4 Orchids in that 25 cent sale that are perfectly healthy...I just need to be better at watering them.

For some reason, I can't keep plants alive for very long if I keep them inside...

I've never been one to be into plants and other such things. A while back, my dad and I decided to get bonsai plants and to try to cultivate them...but it sadly ended in disaster as both of our plants died after just a couple of months. To my own surprise, I felt really bad about it, and haven't really given much thought to plants since then, until a few weeks ago...

A funny thing happend. I went with UP to Home Depot because her mom wanted plants for Mother's Day. As I walked through the (albeit crappy looking) selection, I suddenly had this urge to get my own place so that I could plant things. That's a while off, but it's something that I actually look forward to in the future.

In the meantime, I'm in the market to get something to keep on my (barren) desk at work. I was thinking of another bonsai (it would give me something to do during boring periods), but I'm afraid it'll die because I won't be able to give it direct sunlight, since my desk isn't near any windows. So now I think I'm going to get a cactus. They seem like a pretty manly plant to add to my desk, and I can ease into trying to take care of a plant, since they don't appear to need that much attention.

Desk lamps work wonders for plants...they love the artificial light. Or, if you have lights under your overheads, those are great too. Keeping plants at work is what really got me into plants.

We have so many freakin' plants around my house. XD It's terribly fun. I like working on the trees...which are fairly self-sufficient. Two Bradford Pears, Two Riverbirches (They grow like weeds!) and the large Maple in the front yard.

And in the meantime...I hope no one minds if I post pictures of green things being grown. Very Happy I don't claim sole responsibility for these plants...But these pictures are mine. I've had that cactus, by the way, for like 10 years. XD They're wonderfully hardy and I love my cactus baby. ^^

That's probably plenty for now...Here are some random pictures of plants I've loved from my "travels."

And can anyone identify this?

Well as for the plants..i absolutely love petunias...they are simple but are soo beautiful when bushed out...like the wave petunias..absolutely gorgeous. As for a side note...I work at Lowes..and i happen to know...if you keep the pot you bought the plant in, you can take back your dead plants...clearanced or not...you have 1 year to replace it for free..just take em to the return desk. ^_^

I gave up a long time ago on trying to keep up with the pots and the receipts for the warranty bit regarding plants...I've never lost an expensive one thankfully.

I'm looking to buy something semi substantial for one spot that I have...just not sure what. I was going to get one of those roses that are trained and cut into a tree, but the ones they had on sale were gone once I went back to buy one...

I'm halfway looking at a hibiscus now...and just keep the receipt and pot if it doesn't make it through the winter. They're not supposed to be all that cold tollerant.
