Ladies and gentlemen...my father, at fifty-two years old, can now officially outrun most guys half his age. I want explain this to all of you so that you can really understand how proud I am right now.
The last time I saw my dad, who lives about a thousand miles away from me, he was very overweight, and taking medication for a potentially deadly blood pressure condition. Then, a few months ago, I heard this:
"So, did I tell you I'm running marathons now?"
Yes, boys and girls, that's right. My father is signed up to participate in the 2007 Marine Corps Marathon in October. (I'm looking, but I can't find the statistics for how long it actually is, but going on what I've seen so far, I'm going to infer that it's about twenty miles. But that's just a guess, and I could easily be wrong, so, someone please tell me if I am.) He doesn't take blood pressure meds anymore...because the problem is gone. And he has lost an incredible amount of weight. Here's the linky -- Please feel free to donate. I am so proud!!

I wish I could have spent more time with my dad, I don't remember much about my father just a few small images here and there. |
