Just wondering, because I switched over from XP a couple months back, and really I almost never touch my XP partition anymore (Accept for photoshop).
Xubuntu is nice, Multiple desktops set on a 3d cube, runs fast. Aside from the hiccup here and there, it runs seamless. But it is most defiantly NOT user friendly. While there are alot of GUI elements to help get things running, command line and knowledge of linux is a must, and since I am new to linux, this has been an adventure for me.

Ubuntu 6.10 w/ XGL & Beryl in action (Read that as eye candy)

Definatly is not a perfect OS, but it's made for an excellent learning experience, I've definatley enjoyed the switch thus far.

The only irks are no windows games, so I kept my XP partition. Also it's a bit iffy with it's drivers here and there, particularly with joystick/gamepad drivers. I mainly use it for web browsing and learning tools.

Max and I used to play around with Ubuntu. And lost patience with it, then bought macs. XD

Because you are correct, user friendly it is not. X)!

I love Fedora, Unbuntu, and regular Debian for servers at work & home, but I don't use it on my main PC at home. I tend to treat OSes as tools so depending on what I'm doing I love that OS the best =).

Yeah, I've been leaning more and more away from gaming on my PC, and I've been bugging myself to try OS's outside of Windows. My brother actually suggested it, and it kinda just grew on me. My only beef is my favorite programs don't work on it without virtualization, and I'll be damned if I have to go through a naked rain dance of commands lines and sudo just to install Photoshop, so I dual boot. It's mostly the "one foot at a time then accidentally get shoved into the water" approach to learning that I like the most.

Have been using Kubuntu for quite some time now, and it isn't always the most user-friendly unit, but the Ubuntu team is getting very good at just making things work out of the box. Well, and then there's something like Automatix, which will get most of the things people actually want on their computers to get up and running.

Depending on the strength of your machine, windows games can be made to run, using the appropriate software (like Wine). Some will fall over, of course, but others will succeed and run at a decent pace.
