Then there was the one about the guy that was maning the TV satalite station. Apparently it would get really cold up there, so he thought it was a good idea to sit in front of the mircowaves to keep warm (smart, eh? Ever heard of radiation?) So he'd been warned SEVERAL times not to do this. And Superbowl night came along and he went out there with a lawn chair a six pack of beer... the guy who came to relieve him thought he was making beef jerky.

Sperrit: Actually it was Christmas, and the guy thought he was cooking a ham.
Best one I ever heard was the one about the guy that somehow (still don't know) got his hands on a military jet engine. Attached it to his car. Drove out into the middle of the desert, and started it up. They said he went about 10 miles, going at somewhere around 700mph. At about the 3 mile mark he hit the brakes which melted the tires in a few seconds. He then somehow got airborn and plowed into the side of a cliff. It was such a mess they couldn't tell what it was till they actually got up to it. They were able to id him after awhile when they found a tooth embeded into the steering wheel. |

... How could it have been Christmas? No one watches TV on Christmas! At least not as much as the Super Bowl!
Anyway, I also heard about the car one! What was really cool, though, was that there was a TV show that did an experiment to see if that would actually work. THAT was cool!

It was for cellphones not tvs. Christmas is like the biggest calling day of the year, so they amp up the power to be able to handle them all.
Ok, this has got to be dumber than the car.
Phil, a curious Philadelphia resident, wondered what it felt like to be hit by a bullet… so he took a gun and shot himself in the shoulder. This sent the ambulance racing to Phil's residence for the second time, to treat another gunshot wound. Why did he do it, not once but twice? In Phil's own words, "I wanted to see if it hurt as much as it did the first time."

And anyway, as far as we know it could be either way, Gryph. I mean, it's an urban legend more than anything else. It may have never happened. We just don't know. Kinda like the guy in the car.
Of course we haven't even touched on all the stories of drunken stupidity yet, now have we? Like the guys that got drunk and decided to go crash a rock concert. They drove their truck over the fence, which hit a tree, sending them flying out the front window into the tree filled gorge where one was impaled in the chest by a tree branch and the other just got his nuts taken off.
