Many of you already know this... but I'm a Lego Nut!
Saturday I went to a local mall (Discover Mills) and they have a Lego outlet. They had all of the Lego games in there... Including one for $10... Bionicle Heroes.
The game is ... not good by any means. But I find it mildly addicting.
It's like a 3rd person shooter with a perspective like Gears had sex with Lego Star Wars and this is what popped out.
It is exactly that. It's a 3rd person shooter, with decade old single stick controls, and you shoot stuff, collect the Lego pieces that they drop and buy unlockables. Basically upgrades to armor and weapons for each character, and an extra ability for each character.
You collect masks and each mask you collect gives you a new weapon and ability. When you run out of life... you just lose the mask. I have yet to actually die... but I have lost masks. But soon after, you just find them again.
It has the Lego piece meter at the top just like Lego Star Wars... but instead of it being a goal for the stage... when you fill it, you go into "Hero mode" which makes you invincible.
Overall, it's not horrible... but it's not great either. Even though IGN gave the game a 7.9! I think this game more hovers around the low 6 area.
Worth $10 though.
I find myself only playing 1 or 2 stages at a time (the stages are actually pretty long), but I do go back to it more often than I thought I would.
For the record... I also picked up the 360 version of Lego Star Wars II (Original Trilogy) for $20. |

Wikipedia wrote: | There are reported to be at least 37 levels in this game, most of which are the same as those found in the original games.[2] A level involving the pursuit of bounty hunter Zam Wesell will be added (this was a deleted level from LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game), another level that was cut from the first game, the space battle from Episode I, will be included as well, this is confirmed through the game's website with videos and screenshots, this level will ultilize vehicle free-roam from the second game. The game will take place from "the Trade Federation’s “negotiations” with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace" to "the space battle above Endor in Return of the Jedi". The "Mos Espa Podrace", "Gunship Cavalry", and "Battle over Coruscant" levels will be redesigned to encourage the open vehicle gameplay of LEGO Star Wars II. A brand-new Battle Arena mode, New vehicle bonus missions and 10 additional Bounty Hunter Missions will add new challenges to the Prequel Trilogy. Also, the episode I-II-III levels will be redesigned so that characters have to build, ride vehicles, wear helmets and get access to bounty hunter areas. Characters from the first three episodes will now have the ability to dodge blaster fire and have their own special melee attack (such as Chewbacca, ripping off arms). New Jedi force moves will be included.[2] The red power bricks from Lego Star Wars II will be added to the prequel levels as well.[2] New characters will also be added, bringing the total up to 160. Indiana Jones will be a playable character (to promote the upcoming Lego Indiana Jones: The Videogame). [3]
The Playstation 3, and Xbox 360 will allow for co-op play online.[2] The Wii will include motion-sensitive inputs, and the Nintendo DS incorporates exclusive touch-screen action and challenges. The Nintendo DS version will feature minigames not found in any other versions of the game. The Playstation 3 version will also allow the use of Sixaxis' motion-sensing. The motion-sensitive controls will allow the Wii and PS3 consoles to drive vehicles and allows the Wii to control lightsaber movement. |
