So, I went to download the Drake's demo and it prompted me to download the 2.00 firmware update. Did you know about this Shino? Hehehe. Why wasn't I informed!
In any case, I'm installing it now. Is it all that we hoped it would be? |

Not even close buddy.
No in game XMB
No 1080i only TV fix.
Those are the last 2 real problems with the system. If they fixed those it would be perfect.
However... this IS pretty cool... The added the ability to turn on and off the PS3 via PSP remote play.
"So what" you may say...
Well... Knowing that the Uncharted Demo was coming out Thursday (11/ , during my lunch break, I upped my firmware on my PS3, my PSP, and registered my PSP with my PS3. I had done this once before, but I bought the slim since then, so I registered the slim.
Why... well I wanted to be ready when Uncharted went up so I could download it while I was out and have it ready when I got home.
So I'm at work with my PSP. It's Thursday so we always go to happy hour after work and have a couple brews. Got to the bar (which has free wireless!), pulled out my PSP, hit remote play to my PS3, set up my new connection for the bar, and I was off. Less than 2 minutes and I was looking at my PS3 XMB!
Downloaded the Uncharted demo, installed it and turned off the PS3 while at the bar. Took about an hour total (after I finally got into the store since everyone was hitting it for the demo). Got home... Uncharted was waiting for me.
Remote play is a wonderful thing!
They also added Themes and some other stuff... but nothing significant besides the on and off with remote play. Now remote play seems worth it to me. I just can't see leaving my system on all the time in the off chance I may want to connect to it with my PSP. The on-off feature was a must! |

Yeah I was telling the Hardiman's over the weekend...
From a Game standpoint... 360 is still winning, but the PS3 is catching up.
From a Technology and flexibility stand point... the PS3 is just unmatched.
There's so much stuff you can do, it's ridiculous!
The remote play just added to that. |

What is this upscaling thing? Am I confusing this with the lack of upscaling to 1080i if the TV is not 720p? |

No... thats what I'm talking about.
1080i TVs downscale 720p only games to 480p.
Sucks, but that's the way it is now. |
