Blue Dragons only problem is that its very by the numbers, Mistwalker played it safe for their first RPG and quite frankly who can blame them. It doesn't do anything new, and for one of the first JRPG's of this generation, people were expecting alot more but as it stands, and what I've played of it, its a pretty damn good RPG. As for Shino's comments that its too kiddie, why do you think that? visually its the same style as dragon Quest VIII (same artist), do you think the same of DQVIII? |

Aside from the ones already mentioned, I'd also like to bring up Enchanted Arms (plays a lot like FF Tactics mixed with a little Pokemon) and Marvel Ultimate Alliance of which I'm currently on my second play through.
Back to the previously mentioned:
Blue Dragon is a straight up traditional JRPG, and excels in those traditions almost flawlessly. Peoples complaints about it being too kiddy lie mostly in the character design and simplicity of the game play, but person I love them.
Lost Odyssey is indeed very good. The characters are interesting, the story is compelling, and the combat is a slight step away from the ordinary (I've only heard it compared to FFXII).
Eternal Sonata can indeed be a bit slow at times, but the art and the characters are so wonderful. I love the way they handle the combat, and I look forward to getting further in the game to see how the story pans out.
Mass Effect can take a while to get into, but is completely worth the time invested. The further you get in the game the more compelled you are to play it.
Oblivion I prefer on the PC or even the PS3. Way too many load times which ended up taking away from the gameplay for me. Otherwise a very excellent game. |

I've HEARD it was kiddie. I only played the demo and I wasn't incredibly impressed.
I did play DQVIII and I liked it a lot.
I will end up getting BD, but not until it's really cheap. |
