I saw it and I liked it. It kinda throws back to all those cheesy 80s action movies, which I am a sucker for by the way. There is good action in there, and If you try not to compare it to the cartoon/comics too much, it's very enjoyable. Best movie of the summer? Not quite, but it was entertaining none the less.

Is it worth paying a ticket and see it on the big screen?

I would say no.
It's a mediocre (at best) action movie with bad CG and a horrible GI Joe tie in to the store.

I never watched G.I Joe as a child so I would not have anything to compare it too. Except for the new cartoon.

You really don't need to have prior knowledge of GI Joe to understand the movie. I didn't start watching the cartoon until my late high school years where I needed to watch something in the morning to keep me awake, then turned out I really liked it.

The new series is nothing to use as a comparison for the movie and is frankly a joke compared to the original.

I'd kind of consider the movie along the sames lines as Wolverine, where it is an origins sort. The movie takes place from the very beginning of GI Joe and Cobra, which also leaves it wide open for a sequel.

Overall, I found it enjoyable and not a loss of a movie ticket as opposed to another movie we saw.
