all i know about branding is that it burns...alot.

basically, they burn the image in your skin, as opposed to putting paints in ur capillaries.

Yes, but branding you can do while drunk. I'm sure that works for tattoos too but if ya move on a tatto yer screwed...When geting branded yer in so much pain that you CAN'T move.

Actually, this kid that I know once told me that when he was thinking about getting his tattoo (he has a Native American tribal band around his arm, which is pretty cool), the tattoo artist told him not to come in to get his tattoo while drunk. The reason is that when you have had a lot to drink, the alcohol thins your blood. This causes you to actually bleed more when you actually get the tattoo, since the needle will draw some blood in the first place anyway. So it not reccommended that you get a tattoo when you're sloshed. Branding is a different story, however. And yes, Tobs, I know that it hurts more. What do you think mom would say if I told her that I wanted to get branded?

Actually, I've had the tattoo discussion with my mom before, and she says that I can get one. But she doesn't want me to rush into anything and get something I'm gonna be unhappy with. I don't think branding would be much different.

as for tattooing, it really doesnt hurt that badly! its like a sunburn that someone touches..its more annoying than painful. And htey have this numbing stuff that they CAN put on your skin to numb ya a tad. but its tender, not really that painful. Im terrified of needles, but this I can do because I dont see them

If you are curious about the branding, you can try it yourself. You can give yourself one of these : ) this is how.........take a lighter and hold it lit for like 5-8 minutes, then put out the flame and hold it into your skin, dont just put it to the skin then pull it away, that will just cause a blister, which will be more painful in the long run, just hold it there and enjoy the smell of your flesh burning lol. And on tattoos, tattoo guns dont use "needles" they use basically tiny razor blades, they dont "inject" ink, they 'push' the ink under the skin, and the outline (which is done with a gun, called a Magnum which uses larger, and more blades) "hurts" way more than the coloring, and once the outline is done, your skin will be numb anyway, so don't worry about the pain.

Thanx for the tip Spliff!!! I'm gonna go out and sear designs into my flesh right now! :p But seriously though, I saw branding once on TV, and it looked like a cool alternative to tattoos. It just seems to me like it may have more meaning since you're causing yourself great pain for something. And pain is good sometimes... It would be like a personal test, like in Kung Fu, when he has to lift that giant pot with his wrists and burns the symbols into himself. Cool stuff man...
