Well I am certainly glad to be back here at PO but I will not be posting much for the majority of the summer due to no net at home. but while I am here at my aunts house I will post as much as I can.

Now to give Happo and all those who want to know more I will give you all as much of the details and history that I know.

First things first I was born with Tranposition of the great vessals. In other words my heart was pumping blood in the wrong directions. Blood that needed to go to the lungs went to the body and the blood that needed to go to the body went to the lungs. my first five surgeries were to correct this, and took place over the first seven years of my life. over those seven years the doctors were able to fix things. In the fifth surgery they put in a valve at the base of a dacron conduit that ran from the right side of the heart to the aorta.
Over the course of 11 years I out grew the vavle and that conduit became obstructed. the vavle also developed a leak that only got worse over the years.

Now for what happed in the O.R. last WED.

They took an X-ray and set up two I.V.'s one in each arm. Then they knocked me out.(the accual surgery details were given to me by one of the surgens that worked on me, who I saw today.) In the begining they started to cut throught the sternum but punched a hole in my aorta because in had fused to the sternum with scar tissue. they immeadatly went to the major blood vessals in the grion area and put to put me on the heart lung machine. In the mean time they were also chilling my body, to 18 degrees F, to protect my organs. they then stoped my blood circulating completely for about 15 minutes. in that time they patched my aorta then procceded with the surgey. In the surgery they replaced all but a sliver of the dacron conduit with a donated humans blood vessal. And they replaced the valve with a bigger one. In closing me up they grafted a piece of gortex to the back of the sterum so that if I ever need another heart surgery for and reason my aorta will be protected.

After that was just a normal recovery only faster.

OH MY (insert higher being here)!!! You just described one of the most disasterous congenital heart defects EVER (aside from a missing/deformed left ventricle). You are most definitely a miracle child and quite knowledgable with the succinct and horrifying description of your surgery. Oh!

I'm assuming they were going to go to the heart&lung bypass machine after they opened you up (changing a valve, even an artificial one, with your history off-pump is NOT what a sane surgeon would do). But to also have the complication of aortic adhesions and to actually CUT :butbut: the aorta (major bleeding, decrease BP, decrease organ perfusion, increase risk of Ugh

DEATH)...

You have been truly watched over. I heartily wish you many more miracles and hope to see Selrach the Evil Devil

Well I plan to be here for a great many years. And I hope to keep cheating death just as long. I think that this surgery was either the 8th or 9th time that i have cheated death but I won't go into my mad death cheating skilz.

Yay! You're Back..

WoW.. thats too much for a person have to go thru.. but you've made it.. you're strong..

I've never been to any surgery yet.. so far I've done was 2 times of endoscopies (at age 9 & 21) to check if my gastric turn to ulcer but by god grace I'm fine, I just have a very thin layer and sensitive tummy.. have to take care of the food I eat tho'.. I may need to go for operation soon, my doc advised me to remove my tonsils but I'm still thinking bout it.

Anyway hope you recovered fully soon so that you can get back at the jokes thread :p .. happy that you're back..
