[Kiyomi]

BLACK IS THE COLOUR OF THE HEART

A star upon a darkened sky
screams out against a lie;
a lie that fills us with hate,
but is it already too late?

Black is the colour of the heart
when love is no longer a part
of the endless emotions within,
and so we fester in our own skin.

We rot from the inside out,
and yet we remain so devout
to the ways of life we know,
as all the while the hated grows.

Like a black seed imbeded in us,
or like a wound filled with pus,
it slowly eats away at our soul
until it takes the final toll.

A pain so deep we cannot tell
makes us writhe in living hell,
as black-winged cherubim
stare down on us, so grim.

We lose our minds and sanity,
we lose ourself to the agony
that twists our hopes and dreams,
leaving room for naught but screams.

EMPTY CRY

The vagueness of an empty cry
Echoing across the sky
And filling my mind.
A sadness beyond all time.
Blank.

Shadows dance across the land,
Taking up my trembling hand,
Inviting me to be their lady
Gentle caresses, sweet but fading.
Dark.

Atrophy of heart and soul
Has taken such a heavy toll
On those who stay living on
To try and sing life's bitter song.
Silent.

Darkness erodes my very core
Like ocean waves upon the shore.
A lover calls across the distance,
But nothing can break this trance.
Pain.

Every birth is a cursed occurance,
For death is waiting for his chance
To take away our every thing,
And leave behind only a dream.
Oblivion.

SHATTERED REFLECTIONS

I'm standing in the dark,
What do I see around me?
I see old memories,
Broken like so many mirrors.

They reflect back at me
The happier days of my life.
Yet none show the whole picture,
As all are shattered.

Once I saw my dreams,
Bathed in silver moonlight.
Now there's only nightmares,
Blotting out the stars.

I reach toward my future,
Only to be shoved back.
Oppressing clouds fill the sky,
Shrouding me in misery.

Can I even remember
My happy days of innocence?
Only bits and pieces,
As shattered reflections.

SOULLESS DRAGON

I am a soulless dragon
in search of an endless sky.
I see not death, I see not life
for I am both, yet none.
I need love, I need hate,
I need scorn, I need pride
for they are but one
and the same.
I feed upon the emotions
of those who live and die
for they are mortals that
know the bounds of time.
A burning feeling fills me
and darkness consumes me,
but am I evil or am I good?
Can I be described by such
simple words?
I am the bringer of death,
the provider of life.
Calm is my nature,
but provoke me not
or die in writhing pain.
Flame is my child
and Water my sire.
Earth is my dam
and Air is my life.
Run and hide in terror, child,
or seek me out for guidance.
I am all and I am naught.
A whisper in your mind,
A subconcious jewel,
I am who I am.

I really like your poems. SHATTERED REFLECTIONS reminds me opf my own life.

Even when I am feeling great, I tend to write better depressing poems than happy poems. A lot of my depressing poems are from a really dark time in my life, though. I am pretty happy now, with my husband whom I love very much, and all, but I can still easily call up those sad memories whenever I feel like writing a depressing poem.
