Best Game Villains

Who do you think are the best game villains and why?

My picks are, in no particular order:

Rufus Shinra (Final Fantasy VII): Rufus is just so cold and...evil! Unlike Sephiroth, who is just psycho, Rufus has a plan based on logic. His plan would have worked, too, if it were not for the unforseeable attack by Weapon and all the crazy stuff that went on due to President Shinra's stupidity. How did such an idiot begat such a cool and intelligent son, anyway?

Harle (Chrono Chross): ****SPOILER WARNING!**** Wow! What a plot twist! All the dragons working to "help" Serge, and it turns out they are actually the REAL bad guys! That brings us to the awesome Harle. She follows Lynx around, helping him. She does not care if it is the good or th bad Lynx, just that it is Lynx. Then all goes crazy and we find out that SHE is one of the dragons!!!

Ghaleon/Magic Emperor (Lunar Legand): Sort of a Sephiroth type of villain, since he is a fanatic, but so much cooler! He actually CONTROLS a goddess until the hero comes in and busts up his plan! I mean, all Sephiroth did is send his soul out to do his work after he died. He certainly did not control a diety! And he started out as such a good guy...one of the Four Heros, in fact! I love it when good guys go bad. So much cooler than when bad guys go good.

Sorceress Edea (Final Fantasy VIII): Right after I say how uncool it is for bad guys to go good, I bring up such a character. However, it was not a change of heart for our elegant Edea. Instead, she was possessed by another sorceress! Her cool, calm nature is worthy of worship! Plus she has a really cool costume. Razz

Sydney Losstarot - Vagrant Story (PSone)

Talk about character development. Begin the game and you're looking at an incredible performance and use of power. At first, you can say without a doubt that this is one twisted man. He appears out of thin air, disguises himself as other characters, has synthetic arms with claws for fingers, has that freaky anorexic new-age preacher look, and a big-ass equivilant of an upside down cross on his back (Rood Inverse, basically a reversed holy sign.) However as the plot develops, he reveals himself as an actually caring individual that is somewhat introverted and determined on getting Ashley to realize the truth and become pure of heart in order to pass on his powers to free his family from their curse. Deep stuff. Another character, Romeo Guildenstern (an interesting mish-mash of Shakespeare references, along with Jan Rosencrantz) takes the throne of evil guy of the game, yet Sydney remains incredibly strong as a character till his last moments in his father's bedchamber, dying together with him. So he is not really the most villainous character, yet he plays this role well for the first half of the story arc, and develops into one of the most dynamic characters to be introduced into a game.

hmm...my favorite bad guy...this is a toughy...(*******NOTE: there is some spoilerage here...BE WARY!!!!! *******)

#3: Rufus Shinra (Final Fantasy VII): I have to agree with this...Rufus is a pretty bad ass guy in the game, and is quite the awesome character...but he isnt on my top cause he kind of becomes a little good Very Happy

But hey, almost all bad guys become kind of good...well, cept Sephiroth maybe Very Happy

#2: Bowser (Super Mario): I have to say...he's just soo much of a fatty and is just sooo awesome. His first intro to being an actual playable character in super mario RPG is awesome with him...and he is just a really cool bad guy. I mean, he DOES capture Peach numerous times, but thx to good ol mario, he's always thwarted...salright big guy...we still love ya!

#1!!!!!!: Magus (Chrono Trigger): Ok...you dont get much more evil than a dude from the past who has a bone to pick with everyone, is the only shadow character in the game, AND uses a scythe. Not only that, but he is also incredibly cool looking in the game. Then, the scene in AD 600, when you first fight him, and the music kicks in to go in with his dialogue...its just unbelievable. He also has a good story line to go along with his role, as being Janus in the ice age. I think that my epitome of "bad guy" would have to be good ol Magus...just because he is the coolest bad guy in my perspective.

So ya...Kudos to my main bad man...MAGUS!!!

I, too, love Magus, but since I have not actually BEAT Chrono Trigger, I cannot say for sure that he is super. After all, something could happen near the end that makes me hate him. Most of what I know of him is from reading, anyway, rather than from the game itself.

As for Peach, she DESERVES to be captured! She does not even put up a bloody fight! I mean, if she TRIED to get away or avoid being captured, but just could not avoid it, then fine...she would be a wimp, but not a wimp AND an idiot.

Sephiroth is just...weird. I mean, he is like, "Mwahaha! I am an ancient! Moooommmmmy! Save me from the bad Cloud dude! I am your son, so you have to save me! Hey? Are you alive, or what? MOM! Dude! What is going on?! People killed all the ancients? Oh wait, I am not really an ancient, but I will kill the last REAL ancient because I am an insane dead guy. Sound good to you, mommy?" Talk abouta momma's boy!

SPOILARz!

Well if you wanna get technical, Lucretia is Sephie's mom. Jenova's just like BLARG I'M AN ALIEN and screws stuff over. There's good moments in FF7's plot, but in general so many threads are left hanging open, with contradicting moments and whatnot. It would certainly deserve a makeover, because all the right elements are there.

As for Bowser, I'm not really sure. Yeah, he's a villain. Yeah, he's damn persistant. But I guess my critera has to do with being a solid character as well as having "badguy" status. I can't give him all that much kudos for being a solid character. He has kids that kinda disappear and reappear throughout time, makes apperances in many franchise spinoffs, etc.. Who knows, maybe I've just read too many stories and played too many rpgs

LYNX. He not only slaughters Kid in cold blood, but steals your body. He's allied with freaking Harle. HARLE. THE DRAGON. He slaughtered Kid's family--Marle, Lucca, and Crono! He's freaking FATE itself! He controls the Frozen Flame! HE LOOKS COOL! HE RAWKS! HE'S AWESOME!

Yes, Lucretia is Sephiroth's mom, but he is to psycho to realize it, so he goes off crying to Jenova. LOL.

Hmm... best bad dudes ever?

Lynx ranks high, Rufus ranks pretty well, there too, Magus is alright.

But Alebdo at the moment takes the top spot. Why? (Spoilers!)

The man (well, U.R.T.V.) actually not only has the requisite insanity, but he's got a real cruel streak running through him. In addition to that, though, he's always one step ahead of the heroes, forcing them to react to him instead of being able to stop him. He's got some planning upstairs, and that makes him very interesting to watch.

*Agrees with Silver Adept* Albedo is definitely number one. Other villains high on the list include Ghaleon, Kefka, and Magus.
