I really REALLY feel like I can't hold this inside much longer ...
(/rant)
Remember the time we'd kick ass in Contra in co-op? Remember the fun we'd have in Doom2 to go trough the entire game in a team of 2? Remember that Halo got many awards of Best Game Of the Year for Xbox and stuff like that and that, well waddia know, it happens to feature a Co-op mode? Remember that what makes MMORPG so popular is the freakin fact that they are BASED on co-op?
Good lord game developpers are major asses thesedays, I'm seriously considering the idea of gathering lots of people and making a new compagny ...
I'd make MMORPG that would feature an offline mode! (LAN possibilities up to 32 players) (wow, that is sooo crazy, who'd do that! It's way to much of a cool feature that would kill all other MMORPG on the market and sell way too much, you'd be stupid to do that right? Well I'd do it);
I'd make FPS that would always include a minimum of a ''2 player mode'' co-op. ( I mean dammit, it was commun feature to find 2 player modes in old console games, and now it's dead? why? cause now the only mode that interests people is a mode that has nothing to do with the story and is where you beat the livin' shit outa some other people in a big map just to steall a flag? geee);
I'd make at least one MMOFPSRPG (that gives you the idea) Cause not all of us wants to play a game where you point and click ... and not all of us just want to be Mr. Random Soldier and shoot on sight anything that moves with a Red-team shirt on.
I really am sick of the games that comes out. Either they feature cool things that we didn't hear of and forget MAJOR important and cool options that made previews games so fun to play (often from the same branch of games! Take the Need for Speed games ... no longer can you choise the day or night, rain or sunny day feature, nor can you have awesome replays ... not only did the replay mode sucks ass in Hot Porsuit 2 ... IT'S NOT EVEN PRESENT IN UNDERGROUND! )
Every games I see coming out are growing more and more retarded in proportion with there graphic and technicle advancement ... in other words: for most of them: the better they look, the more they suck it's like forever going out with a new gf, that would be more beautifull everytime ... but that would be more and more bitchy/dumb/cheating on you.

Whatdya mean? All girls are bitchy, Lie, are dumb AND cheat on you....I mean it's the way they were built.
And I think the main reason that most games that are MMORPG can't play offline because that means yer char would be stored offline which makes it easier to Hack. And once you have an offline hack all it takes is some internet hacking and UL of you offline hack to hack yer char...Hence your level 2 thief is now the leader of the Faerun Black Masks.
But there are co-op modes in lotsa games they're just disguised n'stuff. (Star Wars Jedi Starfighter has Co-op missions for example...And is probably one of my FAVORITE games of all time)
But yeah...Games do kinda suck but the reason for no co-op is the whole loan hero aspect.
Batman never NEEDED a side kick and the only reason Robin was around was so the readers could hope that a good-guy would die. Why would SUPERMAN need the Justice League? He could beat the hell outta all of them and still have time to hump Lois Lane on the side.
But if you want Intense Co-op then Buy Jedi Knight Jedi Academy and play the co-op on that it starts with an "S" and I can't remember what it is (Subterfuge?) but my homelies say it's kickin...I'm just too busy punchin rabbits in FFXI. |

Gotta go with BWS 100% on this one. Looking over my game library I probably have less than 10 1 player games from over 200 PS/PS2/DC/GC/Saturn/GB/whatever games. I don't even look at 1P games in the store mostly. With the exception of some good OLD RPGs (and who says it's so impossible to make an RPG 2P?) I'd say you have to be a moron to make a game without some sort of co-op mode. At least a VS mode, for cryin' out loud.
I guess there are a lot of people that are against competition. Of course the lack of quality programming (where have I heard that before?) is probably at the heart of it. Making your cheezy game balanced enough for 2 or more people to play through means actually having a working brain. Who wants one of those?

I gotta add my sad two cents to this one. I prefer all sorts of games but personally RPG and gaming is like anime to me, a fantasy. I can escape and not be with others. Now I like Co-op online as much as the next drooling gamer, but whatever happened to stuff like Sonic 1? On the other hand there is this game called BZFlag online, a tank simulator that I love. Either way I know Kiyomi and I's Library is far outweighed by 1 player only games.

I kind of agree with everyone here.
I love multiplayer games, but being as I don't get to play them that often, it's hard to get into them. Taht's the exact reason I don't buy fighting gmaes anymore
One player is boring and I don't get to play 2 player that often.
I think an MMORPG that you could play offline too would be awesome. You can detect hacking. And I think they should.
And honestly, I have more fun in games like PSO then the MMORPGs. I liked the fact that you could have 4 people you knew fighting along side you and not have any arrogant asses from the outside come and mess with your stuff.
This is why I'm relly looking forward to Champs of Norrath. |

Yeah, ture dat. My experience is from never having less than 3 people at my house (ever) so everything was multiplayer. We'd have full game tourneys every other week so I never found any interest in 1P games. I did like Sonic and a few others but once I take a 1P game out of my system I'm never inclined to put it back in unless it's an RPG. All 1P games are programmed to run the same over and over. The "challenge" is simply seeing if you can learn the pattern. I mean, how many times can jumping from one platform to another be fun? |

I'm antisocial and have no friends to play with.
MMORPGs and 1player games all the way <, ,>
Though when my friends do come back from college, multiplayer co-op games are tons of fun. |

Online helps me a great deal since I have no friends in the immediate area. But I was pretty much a solo player from the start. I had way too many bad experiences trying to play with others anyways - they either cheated by blocking my view of the TV, took my controller out of the port, did the same cheap move over and over again, or were just flat out incompetent. The only game where we could Co-Op well was Contra III and Gunstar Heroes, and in both cases, it was the same old team with the same old formula and we knew what we were doing.
Maddox said it best: the best videogames are the old ones. You had a game, your weapon, your character, and off you go. Everything back then was no joke. It was also simple. Back then, my mom played Sonic 2 and Columns. My dad, computer illiterate of doom, could actually rock average ass at NHL Hockey 94. If I had a new bussy and we decided to play Altered Beast, I told him where the punck kick and jump buttons were and that was it. No fancy combos, no mass of buttons, and no ridiculous amount of D-Pads and thumbsticks. AND THE CONTROLLERS WERE FLAT!!! Flat controllers are the synonym of hardcore to me. If you play a console with something that looks like the shitty rectangular box that the NES controller was, you are a classic gamer. |

Ya know, the people playing games are moer competitive than co-operative. They'd rather frag each other instead of co-oping against the enemy. Frankly, I'm a co-op player because I tend to get wasted in versus play... |
