Right. My AMD chipset has a GeForce 4 TI series... let's say that UT2K3 didn't hiccup at all. Quake III runs beautifully, and Enter the Matrix didn't slow down unless I was in bullet-time. |

oh good so it doesnt really matter. i have a pentium 4 i still dunno if i should get the dominator or extasy. the extasy ahs 256 and the dominator has 128. |

More memory is often a good idea. Mine is 128 MB, I believe. But so long as it does what it's supposed to for modern games now, and can reasonably do well on future games, it's a matter of brand choice. Some games like particular chipsets more than others, but it will likely be minor differences. |

128 MB of V-Ram is nice but I want 256....But all this doesn't matter if you have a slow FSB. My friend had 712 Ram 256 VRam card and a 2.4 Ghz processor and EVERYTHING ran and looked like crap. He then upgraded his motherboard from like a 333 FSB to a 500 FSB and WHAMMO his computer NOW works.
So yeah...Remember that upgrading one thing doesn't mean yer comp is gonna be any better. |

yeah, I'm going to get a motherboard upgrade (can we say "WHERE THE F#@* IS MY AGP SLOT!?!?)
anyway, yeah a new motherboard, gonna go for athlon64 and a radeon 9800 pro card. It'll be my first time straying from GeForce, but I have heard that nVidia shaders are screwy with high octane games like half-life 2. |
