Grab some coffee and a slice of cake; this is gonna be a looooong one:
I remember a nice time...a peaceful time when Toonami ran from around 7/8 on Friday night and continued through up until, like, 6 on Saturday morning and played familiar shows like Thundercats and G-Force(screw Battle of the Planets and whatever they did to PeeWee and his jabber-talk).
Then it got worse...oooh, so worse. Thanks to the repeatative, predictable plots of shows like DragonBall (any of he series) and Gundam (I speak mostly of Wing and the other one with the Shining Gundam or whatever it's called), Toonami became the ONE THING I never wanted to hear brought up in a conversation; because what it did was invite ten or twenty other people who would flock into the group I chatted with so they could argue about what zillionth Power Level Goku had obtained or why HeavyArms could or could not kick the DeathSythe's ass.
Fortunately, the promise of a new Transformers series and a new He-Man cartoon would probably bring Toonami into something I liked again. The new He-Man cartoon was "okay"(it's only pluses were good animation and better character designs; but it's plots were just as cheesy as DBZ), but Transformers Armada, thanks to the U.S. rushing Studio Aeon, was a big dissapointment(mostly animation and script wise).
HEY! I got an idea, Toonami will be a great deal better if we just scrap all the other shows and have it as nothing but Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT! GOODIE! ...
Anywho. All this said, I would have rather kept the ridiculous plots of DBZ as oppposed to "MEGUZI". All Meguzi does is recycle shows from other channels or other time slots and jabs them into an uncomfortable computer world with characters more annoying than those of poorly animated religious cartoons. Code: Leyoko has to be the only "new cartoon" in that schedule and hardly makes up for the same Teen Titan episodes I've seen about fourty times. It's dubbing is terrible(they have to rush all their dialogue into the movement of, I'll assume, fast French speech), and the character designs in both the 3D and 2D aspects bother me like nothing else.
So yeah. Cartoon Network really screwed around with that weekday line up and now I just kinda hate watching Cartoon Network from 7 in the morning to 6 at night.
...but then there was the whole "weekend" thing. They shoved Toonami on Saturday, which I think is a good move since a lot of people usually work during the weekdays and will miss a few episodes from shows that play premeire episodes every day during that weekday run. I like Transformers Energon a lot(TF fan fo'evah), and I'm glad to see Astroboy making it into the line up- but I don't know about Gundam- but I'm biased...I never really liked Gundam( I'll take my robots with their own will in shows like that, thank you), but MegasXLR crap...THAT I can DEFINATELY do without. The humor screams of "trying to hard" and their robot designs make my inner child cry. What's WORSE is that it almost ALWAYS seems like they play the first episode before they play the new ones( I am very unfortunate to flip on CN at the moment they play the same damn episode). I can tolerate their choice with Toonami; they HAVE been playing really good shows and stuff- just I wish they'd take off Megas. Just like they need to end Meguzi. As Azurel put it, "Meguzi is NO.".
ANYWHO. I won't get started on Cartoon Cartoon Fridays- or Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy- because THEN I'd might as well take this over to the soapbox >D HAHAHAHA.
Sometimes I think I just like to see myself type...AND OFF I AM! |

Well, you cannot complain about CN doing Clone Wars, that was done incredibly well. Now how about brand new Samurai Jack episodes, increasing Anime Adult Swim to prime time 8-10pm or 9-11pm, bringing over more new animes, perhaps getting good older ones like Ranma 1/2 (That alone could give you like what, 15 seasons of episodes?), get some Beast Wars reruns going, and for MOD's sake get some kick-ass original shows going in your art house! |

Totally Spies:
Totally sucks! I think I would rather watch an entire half hour of Teen Girl Squad!
Code: Lyoko:
Blah. quite the bore.
TMNT:
What can I say, I love TMNT. I have to admit, the story is wacky compared to what I'm used to, but I still like it.
TeenTitans:
Love this show.. but I would love some new episodes.
DB:
I have to admit that I'm a watcher of the DB, DBZ, DBGT series... es However they are quite the cheeze
Gundam:
Dont watch it.
Thundercats
Come on, could the voice acting get any worse.
New He-man:
I agree with Bee
Voltron:
LOVED IT... then... not sure what I would think now. |

Ah yes, the return of TMNT has been quite fun. Did you get to see the episode where Raphael does an homage to lone wolf and cub? Daigro and his sun appear several times in the series flashbacks to feudal japan actually. |

I don't know what you mean about what they did to it, but I remember watching the series on avis and I have to admit Im really surprised that people watch it. Don't get me wrong, its a great anime, but its a slow anime, with almost zero action though all 26 epis. But Hey, go CN for trying something new.
I'd also like to make a quick point about Gundam Wing. This anime seriously has one of the most well developed plots on CN. The characters really feel and you get to really feel for them, even the stoic Heiro. Even the dub is pretty good, thanks Bandai. SO anywho, if you get a chance to catch this one, do. |
