I heard a long time ago that Sony sold a similar scaled down versio of this technology to Nintendo who made their GC discs on it. |

I want video games to start being released on those disk jiggers with the CD inside like the Mod Disks you had to find in the first Resident Evil to open up the way to the heliocopter pad. |

I just want to touch on a couple of articles out of the latest PSM that touch on some PS3's hardware.
PSM wrote: |
Evidently the unoptimized chips and designs ran so hot, some kits actually melted before more industrious developments had the idea to keep theirs in specially modified mini-fridges under their desks, with holes for the controller cables and the like. Yikes! |
Sounds like Sony has some stupid powerful hardware.
PSM wrote: |
At this year's E3, one of Sony's head hardware gurus talked about a computer being developed by Sony and IBM that has the Cell Processor, the heart of the PS3, at its core. The purpose of this super-powerful computer isn't gaming, but rather the creation of visuals and special effects for movies, TV, and so on. But that doesn't mean it won't have an impact on the games we're playing two years from now.
In fact, the same 3D modeling and animation tools being made available to Hollywood artists will be in the hands of game artists when the first proper PS3 development system ships. This means that there will be plenty of people already out there who are familiar with how to make things "work" on the PS3, which will definately help early PS3 games take better advantage of the hardware than PS2's did. |
This particular article really excites me. PS2 games are just now reaching their full potential on the system. |

If you will remember, the PSX and the PS2 had the same problem with overheating in its early development stages. They will be solved and Sony will continue to be number one in the console market.
As far as the second article, I dont see how you can take it anyway but good. |
