WEll folks, it finally came out, and no, I haven't put it down much, exccept to play phantom brave and post this thingie. I'm pretty happy with everything in the game, though I don't think I still quite grasp the entire battle system, I've used it enough to get me a couple hours in. The opening scene is fantastic and is very SE calibur, though it doesn't come close to my personal favorite opening ever, Which was Wild Arms 1. Anyway, I'm diggin it hardcore, and give this 2-disc game (that's right, it's so big it takes 2 DVDs) a 9 out of 10. Yeha, I'm easy to please, but I also love the series.

How does it compare to Star Ocean... um... 2? (The Rena and Claude one!) Like, how different are the battle systems and do those skill/technique thingies still exist?
Either way, I'm lookin forward to gettin my hands on it sometime. Hurray! |

I've beaten Star Ocean one and two, and am a huge fan of the series, I can't wait til I gather enough money to buy it. Kitsune, I would imagine the battles/skill/tech thing would exist, as that's one of the bases of the series. I'm looking forward to new character interactions i.e. the private action system. I hope it's as funny as the first two. |

Kitsune, the battle system is alot like SO2, where you gain abilities as you level that you can set to different buttons. Fantastic game!

I'm about 20ish hours in so far (21, but I absolutely failed at a boss at the end of a huge dungeon, so I'm.. ahem.. backtracking a bit to level my ass up) - and it's definately rockin'. I played a bunch of the 2nd one and loved it. Tons of mysteries in this one, can't wait to get the plot forward s'more |

I really really like the game. Im about 10+ hours into it and am pushing lvl 15, heading toward the capital of that 'A' place after the mine dungeon. Its kick ass so far but the main difference (at least as far as I see it) form SOII is the linierness. SOII kinda lets you go several places, but SOIII is all about this one story as far as I've seen.
One other thing Ive foud in SOIII. You have trouble doing the simplest things. I can slay armies, evade starships, and cross the stars, but I cant stay at an inn when I like, or find a simple set of friggin stairs that Grallick, Faye, and I spent like thirty minutes trying to find last night. Im calling incidents like this a 'Star Ocean". Does anyone else have a story where they've gotten 'Star Ocean'ed by the game?
Or am I just an uupid stay idgjit? |
