Sadness...

The Story: My fiance (who lives in Cali~ I live in BC)'s cat had two kittens. He was going to keep the male, and the female would be mine. They're a little over a month old now. He's gotten really attached to them, they're really cute. But just the other day, the male cat (Gir) stopped feeding...he's become really weak...he shakes when he walks...I just got a call from Brandon(my fiance) saying that they just got back from the vet. Apparently the fleas have been bring his blood levels dangerously low...He's very dehydrated....Gir is dying...just barely hanging on.

Now my fiance just sounded heartbroken on the phone...near tears...he's going to be calling me back in a little while...he had to go and try and get Gir to drink some water. I can tell this is hurting him a lot more than he's letting on...I've never heard him sound like that before...I wish I could be there for him...Being so far away, expescially at times like this really suck...I'm just feeling really down right now...had to vent. Thank you for listening....

T_T I know precisely how you feel. A few months ago I watched my rabbit waste away of dehydration. Wouldn't drink any water, wouldn't eat, was all shaky like he was having an epileptic fit... It's really hard to go through. The best thing you can do is just to be there for him. >_<

Yeah...I'm trying to do my best at that...He called me back...The first time he called, I could heard the kitten meowing loudly...But he had to go just now...we could hear his mom crying..I don't think it's a good sign...

It's so wierd, too...he was big and healthy...And it was only yesterday morning that he stopped drinking his mom's milk...just yesterday he starting becoming sick...And now...he might not be around...It's just an overwhelming thought to me...one minute something is alive, the next, it isn't....Can you tell I'm new to deaths?

Death sucks.... plain and simple. Unfortunately its a fact of life among all living things. At age 21 I have barried 3 dogs, one of which had 11 puppies and killed 7 herself, 1 kitten that was also killed by the same momma dog, 1 bird that just killed over one day with no warning whatsoever, 1 rabbit that died of old age, 1 14 year old cat with a total of 23 toes as well as 1 blue and 1 green eye, and a few fish.

The best advice I can give you, is to greive now, and be there for your fiance as best as you possibly can. After a couple of days you will both be able to find comfort in knowing that he has passed on to that big litter box in the sky.

Yeah...I'm doing my best to grieve as much as I can before he calls me back..But yeah...I know it'll be okay. It's just hard at the moment

And the final word is....the Gir died at 9:47 tonight...He was burried under a tree, with some incence burned and candles lit for him.

It's sad losing something to a tragic or untimely death. Even when it's a pet it's hard losing a young one. I'm sorry you had to go through this and yes it hurts but it will pass. I've had to bury my share of bodies, animals and family, and while you never forget you learn to deal with the pain.

I am sorry to hear that so fine a feline was put to such an early rest. It is never easy to lose a life, especially one so young. Indeed, it is the saddest when they are young for you cannot help but imagine the life they could have lived. The prevailing light is that his pain is no more.
