I'm not sure how many people are reading this, but since I am I gotta ask. If superheroes existed would you feel better knowing that their identities are submitted, or feel that it is a line that should not be crossed.
For those just finding out, the premise of the story is that after an incident cause by a group of heroes, congress pushes to have the Superhero Registration Act made into law. Labeling the heroes as living weapons of mass destruction, which will require them to have their identities made open to the public. Something that will split heroes, friends, and families apart at both ends. Most notibly the fight between Captain America who is totally against it, and Iron Man who will fight to make it happen.
I can't help but feel that having their identities registered is some of the worst privacy invasion, it is a danger to the person under the mask and the people they care about. I gotta side with the cap....for now. |

Well the whole thing behind Iron Man's side, is that they believe it's better to go along with the bill right now to avoid unnecessary bloodshed and be able to have a safe integration rather than a forced enactment of the law.
It's not as simple as A and B.
Both sides have strong beliefs and it's hard to say if anybody is really wrong. It was inevitable, you can only have vigilante justice for so long before somebody trips up, which is exactly what happened in the New Warriors incident. They were only a catalyst, if it wasn't them it was going to be someone else eventually. As Iron Man stated, they were just waiting for something like that to happen before pushing for the bill.
That said, I'd like to examine Cap's side. Pretty straightforward, people like Peter Parker are the reason that the Superhero Registration act is a threat. Having your identity exposed to the public where all of your enemies can easily figure out who you are and put your family and friends at risk is never a good thing. This is the reason the Mask exists. On the flip side, Cap going rogue has given the faction a power figurehead and who knows how much blood will be shed as the two go to war.
Now of course as is with most things, this problem isn't just a matter of A and B. There are going to be characters who will take advantage of this conflict from a third side. Forefront in my mind are characters like Cable and The Punisher. With all these people fighting each other, who's protecting the people? There are going to be villains crawling out of the woodworks to take advantage of this chaos. Heroes like The Punisher are the kind the government wants tagged and kept track of. And then you've got Cable who no doubt will take advantage of the Civil War one way or another, though if I had a bet, I would wager he joins Cap's side.
Anywho, while I agree with both sides, I'm going to lean towards Captain America though I think he'll have his work cut out for him. |

I'm going with Cap since he's the best of the best.
Iron-Man is as useless as the Flash. Why side with him when anyone can put on a War-Machine suit and beat Iron-Mans drunk ass? |

I went with A.
I'm a little anoyed by the use of the New Warriors in this thing though. The core members have been around for over 10 years already. Making them look like ametures just seems stupid. Particularly Namorita. She's been around for a long time. Also, there's no way in hell Speedball can be dead. His powers would pretty much prevent that from happening. He's got a kenetic field around him at all times. An explosion would just knock him into the next state. |

Thats actually a good point, some speculate that speedball will be the one who becomes the scapegoat and one made responsable when and if he's found. |

For the record in case anyone was curious...
Meanwhile, Peter Parker, after deliberating with his wife, Mary Jane Watson, and Aunt May, unmasks himself to an audience of the world press, showing his full support for the registration act. This action causes J. Jonah Jameson to faint, as the thorn in his side for so many years was right under his nose.
So Spidey took the leap, how this will start affecting things now makes it all the more interesting. |

I keep hearing M. Night Sham-a-lam-a-ding-dong in my head going... "What a twist!!!"
First off. Get the hell outta my head.
Second, They're shocking us just for the sake of shocking. I mean, who would've guessed that Cap would stand up and say "Damn the Man"? And Spidey has gone to such great lengths to conceal his identity... now all of a sudden he's the poster child for "Heros: Out of the Closet '06".
I kid you not... in the subsequent issues, Wolverine waxes his back hair and Plastic Man turns out to be Stan Lee's bastard son. Mark my words! |

I blame Ironman for the whole Spiderman thing. So far from what I can tell, Ironman's been putting ALOT of pressure on Spidey to support his side of the war. Constantly, again and again. He Started out setting up Spidey to fight some villain while Stark tried to haggle with congress about the Registration act, and now he's pressured Parker into revealing his identity. I think Stark's reasoning is that if Spidey of all people unmasks, it'll encourage others to their side. I think ultimately what's gonna end up happening is that Parker will get fed up with Stark and defect to Captain America's side. |
