I never thought I would do so, but as of this week I have returned to FFXI. I got it for the 360, then also realised I could play on the PC with the same account, so I dug up my old FFXI discs and installed it there as well.

I'm playing on Ragnarok thanks to Emerje, some of you ex-PSOtakus will remember who he is. I made an Elvaan and went Monk, and I'm having a blast. The community is so friendly. Inflation has taken it's toll though, I never thought I would be able to sell a stack of rabbit hides for 3,000 gil.

So on the odd chance anyone feels like giving the game another go, I would be happy to get a Worldpass.

I tried to go back... When they released a nice little package deal. It was $30 for the game, the (then) 2 expansions and a free month for you AND a friend.

PRG and I split it. We played twice.

I just think I've been spoiled by WoW and CoH. It was so hard to go back to the slow, crawling, menu-based combat.

FFXI definitely feels slow when compared to WoW, I totally agree there. I just find FFXI gameplay to be more challenging overall. You really have to know what you're doing to take out a lot of the mobs in game. I also prefer the community in FFXI over WoW's mob of tards.

I'm not giving up on WoW 100%, but I'll probably be spending most of my time on FFXI until PSU comes out.

Oh, and combat doesn't have to be menu-based if you're willing to type out a few quick macros.. Cool

That's also a problem too.

Macros started turning into entire battles. You could and were basically required to program a macro to attack with magic wait 3 seconds attack with another spell wait three seconds etc etc.

Or program a macro letting people know a chain combo was coming up in 5 seconds. It got to the point where you could just press a macro and then go play a real video game while your team spent 5 minutes killing one rabbit then another 5 minutes resting.

And when I played I ran into nothing but this.
For some this strip is an exaggeration...For me it was completely true to life.

Thats the most accurate FFXI portrayal Ive ever read. It just forgot the endless hours of running and fishing whores.

Now I do have some kudos for FFXI. I Loved the ambience and atmosphere of the whole thing, and a lot of the original artwork that comes with it is top notch. Characters models are nice and realistic and I imagine since its a shore to get higher levels, that most fo the douches were weeded out into WoW.

Still, sublingars.
