"Sega will release the Xbox 360 version of Phantasy Star Universe in Japan on December 14, 2006, the game will not be compatible with the PS2 and Windows version, players cannot connect to the same servers online."
Considering that the new OPM has an article where the editors are all playing togetrher on the PC and console versions this makes absolutely no sense. Sure Sega will say they have their reasons but the game DOES work between system setups so there's no excuse I can see. If you have to limit it to 4P per game or something then do that but with the ability to break down the walls here I can't agree with Sega stripping out that feature. |

I got really worried when I saw the subject, b/c I already have both the PS2 and the PC version on preorder.

I'm not understanding this, Shino. With the amount of time required by these games I can't see anyone (with a job and passable social life) being able to play these two versions. I could understand having the 360 and PS2/PC verions since they're not compatible but still.
Also, if any two versions would work together, would it not be the 360 and PC versions? I am so dumbfounded by this news (as I thought all three versions (as well as possibly the PS3 version) would work together) that my brain hurts. In this day and age there are some things I think should be standard.

um...sorry about that last one there
I guess I'm saying I want my game system to enable me to play games. A friend once said to me "If I want pretty pictures I'll read a book. If I want pretty music, I'll listen to a CD. If I want both, I'll watch a movie". I want good games and a good gaming experience. Period. |

I'm not sure where the standards thought came in, but back on topic...
But the thing about the PS2/PC version... The fact that they are compatible is the reason I'm getting them both. It's been confirmed that you can pull up your character from your account from one version on the other.
In other words. If I start with PC, make my character named DarthShino, I can then boot up my PS2 and play Darthshino on there.
That's the idea. There are times I'll want to play it on the computer, and there are times when I'll want to sit on my couch and play it on my big TV.
Also gives me the flexability of playing on my computer while watching football. 
The fact that the 360 version doesn't work this way with the other two is EXACTLY why I wouldn't buy it.
Also, I'll probably want to play the 1 player mode on my PS2. |

I got you. I just can't see playing anything on a PC. I'm a Console Kid. My PC is for PCing.
Well, that and Popcap/Gamehouse games.
I am so ashamed. |

I'm with you for the most part. I'm all about the consoles. I don't PC game much at all.
But this also makes it so that Shan and I can both play at the same time when she is over.
There are several reasons for me to have both. |

If I had the cash, I' go the route Shino is taking but then the new PC has been delayed (again) so might bea bel to get them seperately.
Chixie's really interested but says she wont have time to play because of coursework for college. That didn;t stop her putting 8 hours into Kingdom Hearts 2 on Monday! |

Kinda old news.
If it weren't for the fact the PS2 version has slowdown issues (as it has been reported by some of the importers), no progressive scan, and no widescreen support, I would have been inclined to pick that one up (The Burning Crusade will be getting the last leg of my PC). So 360 version it is for me. |
