Got this in my email...so why no Wii preorder?
Limited PlayStation 3 Pre-order
GameStop and EB Games will begin accepting limited pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 console on Tuesday, October 10, on a first come, first served basis. Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to deplete this allocation very quickly, most likely in minutes. We will not accept additional pre-orders at this time. To avoid an unnecessary trip we strongly recommend you call your local store to determine availability. A $100 reservation deposit is required, which can be funded with cash, credit or trade. As we cannot control production and shipping issues by the manufacturer, a reservation deposit does not guarantee receipt of a system available to purchase at launch. Reservations/Purchases are limited to 1 per household.
Our limited online pre-order program will be announced at a later date, after software and accessory availability dates are confirmed. Online product pricing and availability will vary and will be fulfilled independent of store reservations. |

Yeah, considering the down payment on a PS3 reserve is 13rd the total payment for a Wii package I'll look to pre-ordering mine.
And I swore I'd never get a system at launch. I'm truly stunned at myself.
BTW, was anyone successful at pre-ordering a PS3? |

I don't think anyone tried.
I was excited about the PSP launch. That's the only system I have gotten on launch day.
The Wii will be the first Home console.  |

Our store sold out of preorders within 20 minutes of opening.
We should have made a recording to play whenever someone asked, "Yes we started the PS3 preorders today, Sorry we're all sold out, There were 16 units, No we can't let you preorder it, No we can't let you add your name to a reserve list, No we can't call you if someone drops." |

15 minutes at the store I used to work at. I found it funny though that the two employee reserves went to the manager and the assistant manager...but no one is really complaining as a) the manager is just going to buy it cause he knows there will be games he wants for it at least eventually (plus he likes having the new thing) and b) the assistant is not really buying it for herself, but her friend who wanted one (and that friend seemed to be only one she knew that wanted one for the sake of wanting one).
However, they were sick and tired of the calls as well. They actually incoporated the sold out message when they answered the phone.
Hopefully soon though, the Wii will be reservable, although I will hired back at the store, and it seems that only 4 associates can reserve it. |
