One night, not too long ago, I took Akila to the hospital 'cause she said her back was bothering her. After the usual four hours in the waiting room the doctor brings us back and says, "We'd like to do an X-ray but first we have to make sure it's not kidney stones or something so we'd like you to pee in this cup."
Another hour goes by when the doctor comes back and tells us, "Well, we're not going to X-ray you because your test came back positive."

Now, we're both freaked out 'cause we think he means she's got some crazy disease!

So I says, "Positive for what?"

He says, "You're pregnant."

SQUEE!!!

I know you never asked for my advice, and a lot of it goes against what psychologists may think. All of this is only based on what I've seen in others. I may be off base on some of these, but all parenting advice is really an educated guess, anyway.

Top 10 Feign's Parenting Tips:
1 ) Sheltering a child only lasts until teenage years, teaching right and wrong lasts forever.
2 ) The internet is more like the real world than we want to admit, don't let them venture out alone.
3 ) Kids get sick, don't freak out and overmedicate them.
4 ) Kids will get hurt, don't put them in a padded room.
5 ) Help a kid make a mess and they'll be more likely to help you clean it up.
6 ) Morals are hard complex and hard for a kid to grasp, but even a baby can spot hypocrisy a mile away.
7 ) The quickest way to kill someone's respect is to be a hypocrite.
8 ) One cannot teach without respect, and one cannot protect another from the ideas of someone more respected than oneself.
9 ) Have an explanation for everything. If a kid doesn't understand what you're talking about, they at least have an idea you know what you're talking about.
10) Proper written grammar is a valuable social skill now.

I've never listed mine but I can't help but think you nailed every one of them.

I stick most tightly to #9 tho. I never say to do anything without a "because..." to follow. Explaining is teaching, saying is telling. You have to teach.
