Super Smash Bros. Brawl control scheme revealed

Super Smash Bros. Brawl creator Masahiro Sakurai ended months of speculation on the Wii game’s control scheme with his latest post to the game’s official Web site. The game will support four controller types: the Wii’s remote, the remote and nunchuk, the classic controller and the GameCube controller. It looks as though the game has every possible base covered, at least in the controller department, so fans of wild gesticulation and Smash purists should feel right at home. Sakurai did address one big remaining question about using the Wii’s remote alone—or at least he acknowledged that it still was a question. “Hmm? How do you do smashes and dashes with just the Wii Remote?
If I get the chance to tell you, I will,” he posted. He also recommends using the GameCube controller, for its “powerful rumble.”

Feh, I still can't stand controllers with horrible d-pads like the 360 and GC. Why is it so hard to make a decent d-pad? Only the Playstations have good ones nowadays....

On-topic, though, I'm glad to finally see a release date. Even if it is much further away than I had thought.

Should be interesting to see how everything turns out for Smash Bros. Brawl. We'll have to see whether there's a superior controller or not, or whether everyone can be equal, even those making motion as opposed to just pushing buttons.
