I went into it without expectation (ok that's a lie, I expected explosions and cheese on my popcorn) and I don't think I was disappointed. The dialogue was cheesy at times but not over-bearing or in a teeth-grinding way. It was cute, it also managed to snag every single blockbuster cliche into a single movie however I can't deny that it was very entertaining.

I enjoyed the movie a lot. I've spent almost all summer watching depressing movies with tragic endings, so it was nice to just go into the theater and let my mind get lost in this movie.

The movie is very much focused on the Autobots and the Humans or maybe it's that you're allowed to become more personal with them than the Decepticons. I definitely wanted more Starscream screenplay and more dialogue overall from the Decepticons but that's mostly just me being a fanboy. (Barricade and Blackout were F'ing Fantastic)

Which brings me to my main point. If you're looking for a philosophical mind-wrap you're not going to get it here. Don't expect it.
What you SHOULD expect is a thoroughly entertaining summer blockbuster whether you are a Transformers fan or not, i think there's plenty of reason to take a chance. I repeat, my childhood was not raped by this movie.

Excellent! Long live the summer blockbuster! I'm really glad to hear that they didn't attempt to add preachy dialogue or undertones that attempt to make you think. While there's nothing wrong with that, sometimes you just want to turn your brain off and see giant robots blowing crap up.

Hooray for no raping!

I've argued with people for 6 months about this movie, people saying to was going to get screwed up. I'm a huge transformers fan, I grew up watching it, and I really hate what it has become with all the new series. But the fact of the matter is, there is not a whole lot to screw up. Transformers has never been anything but a show about robots from outerspace that can turn into cars and such. There was never a real deep seeded storyline, other than defending the earth from the decepitcons. So I've been pretty confident that I am going to see exactly what I want, and thats cool CGI, a lot of explosions, and the autobots kicking some decepticons ass.

Going with Dai and Sebastian to see it in about 2 hours, so I'll post my final thoughts then, but I doubt I will be disappointed.

Well I won't post my few disappointments so I don't spoil the movie but it was truly off the chain. The one thing I can say is that I was a bit disappointed in the filming. The camera is so close up on the robots most of the time, that with the design (little shards and spikes coming off of them everywhere), it's hard to tel what you're looking at. When they do pull back and let you see the entire robot (the highway scene is raw so you'll see what I mean) it's the bomb! Most of it tho has the camera swinging around behind poles and rocks and walls or cutting back and forth MTV-style so that you just see chaos.

Some thoughts tho:
Soundwave (with Rumble and Ravage) would have been perfect for the storyline but someone missed that.
It was cool to hear the original transforming sound...three times in the whole movie???
Oh, and Starscream is supposed to have that whining voice. How can you screw that up? I guess the same way you can make Megatron an F'ing ________ .

Lastly, Barricade is hot but why they always gotta kill the Black man? (No, not Tyrese)

*SPOILERS*

Did they actually -kill- Barricade? I have to watch it again because I don't remember him dying. And Scorponok is still out there too because he never reappeared after his tail was sliced. Starscream ran for space during the credits so we know he's coming back with a new Posse.

I too enjoyed the movie.

My main qualm with it was whenever the little boombox bot thingy was doing stuff it always seemed like the camera man decided that running around pressing Zoom in and Zoom out constantly would make for a good shot.

Also, strapping down Bumblebee with sad music playing.
>_>
WTF? Am I supposed to feel sorry for the retardicon?
