So I beat the game today. I've been playing it nonstop almost since thursday night. I've logged about 21 hours upon completion and I have to say I've loved every minute of it. I managed to make a No-kill run and was really proud of myself as in previous games I've never really tried something like that. I had a lot of fun being stealthy and not clumsily running and gunning it. The story was really engaging, to the point I hadn't realized I spent all day playing it.

I was really worried that the story would be too cinematic and I would be frustrated with little gameplay ala Xenosaga but I'm glad that wasn't the case. The story was thrilling enough to make me not antsy and there was enough meat with my potatoes to make me feel satisfied.

I like the new combat system and really helped to make the game feel less clunky and dated. My only gripe was that only some weapons can be used from cover, a better cover system would have been nicer but I didn't mind because I was mostly being ninja throughout this run. There were a lot of items I didn't even use which makes me feel a bit weird. Drebin's store was REALLY NICE and convenient but took away from some of the difficulty. I still am glad to have had it though. I really liked the ability to customize weapons and I spent a lot of money buying parts to trick out my guns. I liked all the "Hideo"-isms throughout the game too! The battle with Screaming Mantis was brilliant. All of the boss battles were pretty great. I can't stress enough how much I enjoyed the story. All of it.

I've played the MGO beta and I played a few matches of the retail MGO and I'm having a blast with that so if anyone is interested please hit me up and let's get a clan or something together :]

Overall I've had a GREAT experience with this game, and I'm looking forward to running through it several times to unlock everything. I have the Infinity Bandana from doing the no-kill run, not to unlock the active camo with no-alerts...ooh this is gonna be a toughie Very Happy

I beat it last night. The ending was amazing. I might start it over again. I missed 1 bosses face camo because I figured out how to get them too late.

The Solar Gun is -awesome-!
I had to redo a few bosses because I couldn't find their dolls in time.

If you tranq the bosses first forms, they drop a doll you can collect during the second. Also: If you have a camera, stall for time during the second form long enough and the screen goes white, allowing you to take pictures of the second forms as they pose Very Happy

I haven't played it and don't plan to, but I have to say that I like Meryl a WHOLE LOT better than I liked Eva. I couldn't stand Eva in the last game, but Meryl is awesome!

Eva returns as Big Mama! OMGZ!

Haven't made it that far yet but I'm in the know thanks to like a year of research. Razz

I'm like 7 Hours into the game cause I have a life to pursue so I couldn't beat it in one sitting.

Eva still sucks.

Hey Ultra... did you have the Tranq sniper by the time you got to the first real boss?

Reason I ask is b/c I just had the pistol... and it barely did anything to her stamina.

Got the face camo though. Smile

This game is incredible. I mean... seriously... I can't fault any site for giving it a 10. I keep looking for nitpicky things to point out... and I just can't find them.

This game is damn near perfect. The story and the acting are just spectacular. Definitely the best in the series.

Yes. The Mosin is pretty much essential for tranqing bosses.
A nice clean shot will usually take off a fifth to a quarter of a boss' health.

It was the very first purchase I made from Drebin. As a tip, the Solid Eye was pretty much always on for me, it lets you spot out items to pick up which is incredibly useful. After I bought the Mosin, I pretty much didn't buy anything else except ammo until the very end of the game. Most weapons you can just pick up off enemies or find scattered throughout the game including the anti-tank and RPG type weapons.

Is Snake still retarded a la MGS 3 where he asks a question after everything somebody says?

Roy: Hey Snake, I'm going to McDonalds, you want anything?

Snake: McDonalds?

Roy: You know, the place with the Golden Arches?

Snake: Golden Arches?

Roy: Look, do you want lunch or not?

Snake: Lunch?

XD

Snake: Who's this creep with the Clown Makeup?
Campbell: That's Ronald McDonald Snake! Leader of the terrorist organization: McDonald's. McDonalds owns 45% of the global economy. Be advised snake, underneath that friendly exterior is a terrifying monster that must be stopped at all costs!

Nah, I don't think the conversations got out of hand in this one. Snake's a pretty smart dude, I felt like everytime -I- had a question it was answered and it didn't obsessively give me answers to obvious questions.
