Has anyone out there read this satirical piece? I just wanted to see what anyone else had to say about what Swift had said.
For those who don't know, Back in the day Johnathan Swift lived in England who at the time was having problems with the over population of Ireland. So he wrote a satirical piece about how the English should eat their babies to solve the problem.

Having read the piece, it's rather convincing if you don't know it's satire beforehand.

Yeah, My english teacher told us to write a reply, and the class was all bashing Swift, then he told us it was a satire. I was all like, "You are a bad bad man!" I felt so stupid. |

Besides, Swift was writing to an adience that would be conducive to eating the Irish. It would be more like someone writing that the U.S should process all the kids of the poor and homeless into Soylent to reduce overcrowding. |

It is kinda like my Animal Rights paper for Philosophy where I said animals had no rights other than to be killed and eaten.
