GeForce 4 was given to me as a gift. It works superbly (But I was gaming along on a GeForce 2 before that, soh...)
I've heard good things about nVidia's chipsets and ATI's chipset. I'd choose the nVidia because of the Unified Driver Architecture... one download for a boatload of card types... that way, you can just switch cards if you have the right driver set installed for your GeForce II.
But that's my opinion, ya know? |

If you wanna go GeForce 4, go for GF4 MX440 128 or MX 460.
But if you feel you got the extra cash, go for GF4 TI series.
Better yet, GeForce FX Series.
The GF FX 5200 similiar to the GF4 MX460 except lower priced.
GeForce FX 5200 Ultra onwards are darn powerful, even requires additional power.
Juz my humble opinion.
PS: Remember to ask if the Graphic Card is able to process Pixel Shading.
PS Part 2: GF FX5600 or Radeon 9800 PRO seems to be the best around |

I'd definitly go with the TI serie. I have a Gforce 3 Ti 200 and it does the job, only you gotta select the good drivers, for exemple, I have a really bad frame-rate with the latestdrivers, but with the ones I have that are a few months old, games like Need-for-Speed underground runs like a charm! I don't understand how come I had such a performance ''down-grade'' with recent drivers tho ... o-o;;
If you have a powerful enough machine/card, you'll be able to run games with antialiazing! But I'm a bit disapointed by the Gforce3 antialiasing (or my 2.4 Ghz :p) If I play Morrowind, all I'll get is major frame-rate drop and minor noticable graphic changes, I mean, I still see the ''stair'' effect even in 1280 x 720. *shaky fist at Antialiasing not doing it's job Of course if I put 4X of antialiasing, then it starts to look real sweet! ... as long as you don't mind playing at 8 f/s |

That reminds me of the time I was running Tomb Raider II on my 486 overclocked to 116 Mhz with a Cirrus 1mb (no 3d acceleration) at that rate
*sigh
Aaaaw the nostalgia |

Dominator or Xtasy.
Do note that Radeon cards ain't exactly compatible with INTEL chipset and Nvidia cards ain't exactly compatible with AMD chipsets.
Cases varies thou. |
