A quick trip to planet Aso!

Lately I've been playing this game called Freelancer, and I felt like doing a little tour of the planet Aso from the Kyushu system! Here's a lil log of my journey! Since I have nothing else to do to keep me awake Z_z

On my run from the Hokkaido system to Tau-23, I took a few picture of a wonderful sight! Here's what I got ^^

After at least 5 minutes of travel with the cruise engines to full speed, I finnaly saw the end of the Seiran Dust cloud to witness the beauty of planet Aso!

Ha, now that's me with the cruise engines on again! I took that one on the go, as I was being chased by the Kusari Naval forces ... they don't like me much since I started dealing with the Blood Dragons and Golden Chrysanthemums.

Almost right after the Kusari unit started its poursuit, it disrupted my cruise engine, forcing me to attack. I had to dispose of him, doing nothing but tarnish my reputation in that system even more. I have to say that, it was worth it, the Blue and Green Dwarfs from that system are so unique, they give a mellow light to the star system making you feel relaxed and in a state of well-being that can't be discribed, visiting this system is a must, even if it means risking your ship's hull integrity

This is as near as you can get from the big purple one. Getting any closer would suck you into its atmosphere and destroy your ship in a second X_x I wish I could just land there without using the docking rings, but it's just impossible, the ship wasn't build for such entrence into a planet's atmosphere. Gah, *shaky fist at bad rep with the state police

HEY! Does freelancer play like Privateer? The first one..IE it's open ended like you can smuggle goods or do missions or you can actually follow the story line?

Because I stand to this day that Privateer (Wing Commander 2.5..It was after 2 but before 3) was the greatest space flight sim EVAH! Even better than Tachyon the fringe...Mainly because all of Tachyons missions were plot based so there was no open endedness.

There is a story, but once you are done with it, you are free to do what you want! To give you an idea, after I completed the game I had discovered only 32 of the 48 star systems, and I had a level 16 ship (still do actually, but I could get up to the level 32 Titan, teh best ship in the Galaxy)

It most definitly surpases Privateer on every aspects, the Multiplayer is cool too! It's like the game, only without story mode and you have the freedom to do what you want with a bunch of friends, like, ganging up on the Liberty system police and do contraband of illegal goods such as cardamine and err, artifacts. The economic system is amasingly well developed in that game O-O.

Ooooh, but can you fly into port and join guilds and do Missions?

You bet! I'm a proud member of the Blood Dragons and a supporter of the Golden Chrysanthemums, the Outcasts don't hate me either since they are allies with the GC (but not to the BD, but the BD are allies to the GC so my rep for the 3 ends up rising a bit when I do jobs for one of those 3 factions)! There are like at least 30 factions that each have there own allies and enemies which ends up modifing your reputations toward certain groups and even entire systems depending of with who you decide to join forces or become there worst nightmare. You can dock into all friendly or neutral ships bases, but you can't if they are in enemy factions. For exemple, I can't land on any planets in the Kyushu system since I'm hated by the feds there. :p But in other systems, I can.

Feds pwned teh planets there so ... I gotta hide on rebel bases outside major systems, use alternative paths to avoid direct confrontations with the Kusari police and military forces (which can turn into a real nightmare in a matter of seconds when they both decide to gang rap... I mean attack you X_x) But that also give you chances to use paths that you wouldn't even dare using before since it would be way to surrounded with treatning forces. This game as near-limitless possibilities, but the quests and missions are extremly repetitive, but hey, it's kinda addictive to just fly around to a mission waypoint and then join up with other A.I. of your faction and give an ennemy faction the beating of there life

Wow..I seem to enjoy this game..So if I buy it and it sux can I kill ya B?

Do like I do! Get it hacked and then, if it's worth it, buy it! But I think they are planning on making a Freelancer 2, so I'd wait and see. Hell, I think the game is sold 19.99US$ so, it's not much you'd lose. It came out back in mid-summer last year I think.

Haha, an other feature I like is when you are flying with a cargo full of falluable goods and then, you are intercepted by some Lane Hackers and they demand that you jettison your cargo or else they'll open fire ... you understand that I like to ... NOT give it to them Mwahahaha. It's funny tho the replies tehy come up with when you DO hand over the goods, things like ''Well, I didn't expect it to have it easy ... I'm suprised, I was looking for a fight'' or stuff like that.

Well in Privateer I useta jetison my cargo and let them go to pick it up..Then when they were getting it I'd blow up their ship and take the cargo back..hehehe

Best combo for Privateer was the centurion with 4 lasers, 4 gun coolers, an advanced repair droid, level 5 shields, Highest armor, 1 torpedo launcher, and two missile launchers....Basically since lasers take so little energy to use you pump 3/4 of yer energy into shields and you can STILL have a constant laser fire..Then use the torps on Capital ships and the missiles on the normal ships after you sucked away their shields...That or afterburn into them and pump all your shields to the forward position.

One of the coolest thing about that game is the TON of mods that came out for it, I like the one where you can shoot down big battleships and other stations (since the game normally doesn't allow you to destroy bases that well, are usefull for the economy or I dunno, maybe they didn'T want to have us screw up the storyline by destroying our HQ :p ANYWAY! Problem solves! There are mods out there for everyone! Even some WWII plane mods but err, that kinda kills the spirit of the space shooter.

BTW, here's a shot at the Kyushu forces PWNING me big time ( Nomads are meaner but err, still attacking that battleship is kinda stupid, especially since I don't have the mod that hmm, renders it vulnerable ^^;; )

Well. I bought Freelancer..Now I gotta find time to play it...But since my bestfriend has moved from AZ I think I can wing it.
