Well I went to see Dare Devil this weekend. I've never been a big Dare Devil fan or anything, so I can't say how accurate the movie is to the comics. But, I did enjoy this movie. Not quite up to Spiderman in my opinion, but still worth the time and money of going to the theater to see it. Lotta action. More action than Spiderman, just not as much backstory as was given in Spiderman. Overall rating...B+. Anyway, has anyone else seen this yet? What did you think? |

I'm mad at the Spiderman movie. He doesn't shoot webs out of his wrists! He shoots them out of canisters in his suit...
Stupid inaccurate... rawr. |

actually i THINK the canister thing is only in the new ones. I was pretty sure in the original Amazing Spider Man he shot them out of his wrist, but what do I know? the spider man movie was good, im thinking of going to see Daredevil (even though my hatred for Ben Affleck is hard to be outdone) but the 18 inches of snow outside doesnt want me to. |

All i know is that kingpin was from spiderman...AND HE ISNT IN DD!!! HOW CAN YOU MESS SOMETHING UP LIKE THAT!!!
also, the original spiderman did shoot webs out of canisters, which was good for adding a funny effect in the comic:
ie: swinging away from the bad guy, when spidy runs out of his juices...F**K!!!
end of example |

hey mike, when the snow isnt lethally high wanna go see daredevil? i cant drive and all...
and about kingpin, he was also white, but at least while they were making him [edit] african-american [/edit] they got the cool guy from green mile...
edit: calling him black would be a hate crime, and i just saw the south park episode, i dont want that to happen and you shouldnt want it either. |

Needless to say, Spiderman has set the bar for what comic movies should be like. It was excellently made, by a fan of the comic, and that makes all the difference. The mild inaccuracies have no profound baring on the actual films.
Kingpin, yes, predominantly in Spiderman, although white, played well by Michael Clarke Duncan. I don't think race was any issue and nothing could ever be so bad as the movie casting fallicies of casting Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent in the first Batman and then stinkin Schumacher's Batman Forever has Tommy Lee Jones as Harvey Dent/Two Face. ~sigh~
But it's all the same in the Marvel universe. And sometimes crossovers happen. Spiderman - a much stronger/dominant character in the comic book world than Daredevil.
As for the webbing not shooting out of his wrists? Does that SERIOUSLY ruin the movie?
Just as much an argument that Batman used guns in the first movie. Did it alter the greatness of the film?
I don't really think so. If you take something THAT literally then maybe a rethinking of watching a hollywood bastardization of any comic made film would be in order.
Hollywood will NEVER make anything EXACTLY as it's written. They thrive off of inaccuracies and adding the flash and glamour. They sell movies in studio rooms by comparing them to another movie... like the recent one, Dark Blue... even in reviews..."it's LA Confidential meets Training Day". Funny, those two movies have already been made. ~sigh~ When a handful of us know it's reworked scripts from an already great television show called THE SHIELD.
Anyone up for a round to complain about how the Fellowship of the Ring was ruined because it didn't include Tom Bombadil? |
