I have spent allot of time trying to think about what I should say in regards to this movie.

Really there is nothing that can be said, but go and see it. I am sure that Moore made things looks as bad as he could, and he did a god damned good job of it. With the wonders of video editing you can make things look almost any way you want. But you also can’t lie to well by doing it. And I don’t think Moore lied at all.

Go see it.
Don’t vote for bush.

One thing gives me solace and hope for the country though, at the end the entire theater applauded.

I'm sure it's more beautifully fabricated fiction like the rest of MM's works. Bowling for Columbine was a whole lotta bs, as are his books and about anything else this man does.

The problem is that he overlooks a lot of facts and over-emphasizes many others. Of course the entire theater stood up and applauded, the average American as of late seems to be one who's opinion could be changed either way. If a movie comes out and they watch it, it could easily have a huge impact on them. Why do you think The Passion was such a big hit with people who weren't religious in the least?

MM is a toolbag. I'm surprised you like him at all. Most people I know hate his work, even a lot of the hardcore liberals hate him because of the name he gives.

Go see the movie before you form any opinions of it. Ever heard the saying don't knock it till you try it? There is literally no way you can put up a compelling argument against what I saw, unless you saw it to.

I know that bush has done some good, I can’t think of anything, but it’s got to be there. But the fact is the bad always out weighs the good.

The simple fact is this is all real footage, he didn't shoot a movie he edited one together. He had a point to get across and he did it very well. The film was very well researched, and while I did think a little bit was stretching the truth, not much was.

Demon angel

Just to clarify, if you want to speak on the job (or lack thereof) that Bush has been doing, go to this thread here and leave this thread specifically to the talk on the film itself. I know that the two seem entwined, and they are, Mr. Moore wanted it that way.

Remember that this movie is only one man's opinion and the way that he is witnessing the facts being played out. To be frank, it's not like I cannot say no to him making this film and releasing it. It's called Freedom of Speech, and you don't have to view/read/listen to what Mr. Moore has to say.

Hell, I could give a rats ass about what that toolbag Sean Hannity says, or Rush Limbaugh for that matter, but I can't stop them from saying what they want to.

I'm voting for Bush.

And Michael Moore spins the truth so fast, he makes a blender feel jealous.

Ive only seen one other movie by Mr. Moore. Roger and I. I can tell you just from that, that he is really good at catching people off guard but I don't like his methods sometimes and believe that he could still get his point across without them.

I'd have to admit.... I highly dislike Michael Moore. But don't get me wrong, I'm pretty liberal myself. It's just that public figure of his.

Lemme start off: have I seen this movie? No. Have I heard a lot about it? Yes. But I'ma still tell what I think.
So why did he make this film? To get his opinion out there? Um, it's pretty obvious from his work and a random oscar/emmy/whatever-the-crap-award-that-was speech. To give an fair and balanced view of the facts about Bush's administration? Hm..... I think the truth goes with Moore as milk goes with lactose intolerant dogs. Bowling for Columbine, for example, had many, many truth-bending "uh-ohs." But you know, it's just a "movie"... But speaking of truth, do you really know that this movie was "very well researched" for? Even a little exaggeration can go a long way. No matter what you watch or read or hear or see, you always gotta question the credibility of the facts or source of the facts and take into consideration the intent and purpose of the movie/book/etc and the person behind it.
Michael Moore made this film for one reason: to make Bush look really, really bad so that swing voters will not vote for him. Maybe to 'entertain' as well, but in my opinion his satirical sense of humor is pretty lackluster (but that's based on reading a little bit of Stupid White Men, which bored me so much as any other anti-Bush/anti-anything stuff I hear.... it's getting so old by now). Entertaining or not, he wants to swing the swing voters. That's it.

....Which is pretty damn manipulative if you ask me. Swing voters are just as the name says. Many of them can be taken into the media so easily.

I gotta give it up to him though... he's got his own opinions, he's not afraid of them, and he's willing to take all the rotten tomatoes from people who disaprove. That doesn't change what I think of him, however.

An idea, though: how bout you guys and you swing voters don't see this movie and actually look at how the past four years have been. Actually look at both sides, lookit the good and bad decisions that Bush has made and the kinda stuff he stands for, actually watch the doggone presidential debates. You know, just a suggestion, of course.
If I could vote, though... I'd honestly go for Kerry. And it's -not- because of Mr. Puppeteer we're talkin about... or because of what anyone else thinks, in fact.

I just want people to make THEIR OWN DANG DECISIONS. People can still think for themselves these days, right? I'm optimistic.

Smile

Shinku - I appreciate your in depth debate on the subject. I think in these times it's really hard to agree with one side of the debate so whole-heartedly. It's almost like you have to subscribe 100% to a political side or you aren't "in the group". This all or none mentality is really what creates swing voters in the first place as many people don't want to live the convictions of just one party. It never made any sense to me to seperate and create such a divide in the nation. I look at Michael Moore's films as media, just like everyone should. Some people will be affected by it than others but I certainly wouldn't be one to sunscribe whole-heartedly to his views. He makes good points but some of his tactics are downright just as misleading as he would accuse todays politics of being. I remember an old saying by Benjamin Franklin: "Wash your finger before you point out my spots."

I'm not a Bush supporter, I'm not a Kerry supporter, and I actually have had discussions with my family (My dad is not really pro-Bush but he is definitely anti-Kerry and my uncle who is Anti-Bush and Pro-Kerry) and validity to vote for either this coming election is sincerely chosing from the lesser evil. And that's a vote I have no confidence in. I will vote still the same, but I will definitely not be swayed by mudslinging of any party be it presidential or media.

Perhaps the most important thing that you said in there Doot, at least to me, is that you will at least be going out to vote.

Secondly would be that you're critically analyzing what each of these contenders have to offer.
