I agree,
I think it's pretty silly and pointless to get worked up over a fake language. Especially getting serious about grammar and mechanics of said language ^_^. Pointless people, pointless! Use your time on something more productive...like figuring out how lava lamps work...oooh! |

The most simple version of that is a wax substance (I've seen paraffin used with decent results) in a mineral oil solution, with just enough heat to make the wax rise to the top., but not enough to keep it there. Hope I've brightened your day. |

I speak a few sentences or phrases in Klingon that I memorized from my dictionary.
But, honestly, I read it occasionally for fun. Just like I study my Star Trek encyclopedia, and just as many people keep up with the out-dated non-used tenents of chivalry, or as people keep up with who wrote and directed what movies/anime/whatever.
It's a hobby. No, it's not going to help you in life, but you know, Calculus isn't going to help -me- in life, but I still had to get a C in it. |

that's not what I meant, and you know it. Fact is, sometime you are even -required- to do stuff you'll never need (hello, history), that aren't even fun. So why not do something you'll never need that is fun? |

That wasn't exactly my point, either...the fact that Al Bhed isn't a crucial aspect of life was meant solely as a fulcrum for my argument that there's no reason to act as if one has been wronged if its creator uses it in a way one does not agree with. I never meant to insinuate that it was something that should be cut as a hobby, only that there is no real-world positive impact to be gained by getting one's knickers in a twist over perceived misuse.
P.S. - My Klingon was almost certainly misspelled, as it has been years since I last set eyes on the language. |

jyah. I agree with you, no use fussing over it. ^_^ There just seemed to be a general theme that because it wasn't vital, it wasn't worth doing, so I thought I'd add in my two cents.
Because when it comes to weird hobbies, I am all about sticking up for people! ^_- Afterall, I'm the girl who researches -everything- for fun. |

I'm with GAAZ. I'm not down with Linear FF games. FFX was as linear as Mystic Quest, it just didn't have the lines for you to walk on.
Here's a message for alot of companies:
STOP TRYING TO MAKE RPG'S INNOVATIVE!!!
RPG's peaked with FF7, and has since seen no equal. Well, I liked FF9 alot... Here's the formula for a great RPG:
1. Storyline. Put more than a days thought. Create twists and turns. What made FF4 so great was that you experienced Cecil's transformation from bad to good, and from then on you were dedicated to him. Awsome storyline! Sake with FF7, storyline was fantastic, and kept you guessing til almost the end.
2. A world to explore. Remember Star Ocean: SS? FF7? Hell even go back and look at Zelda, Dragon Warrior and FF1! You could go ANYWHERE. What the hell happened to that? now you have narrow paths to explore (see: FFX) until you get an airship, then you can "fly" to these different narrow paths. Let me explore damnit!
3. Character growth. THIS is where you should work on the customization. I'm going to make a subdivision that covers great ideas that are already in affect.
a. Job. Class. System. It's the best thing out there, hands down.
b. Proper equipment displayed on character. Hey, if I equip a green breastplate, I don't want to see my character model running around in the same lame starting clothes. If I have a bad-ass sword, I want to see him running around with it, not just in battle. Weapons and armor are alot more than just numbers to add to stats. They flesh out the character.
c. A great (optional)supporting cast: finding out that you can optionally get a character to join your team is awsome, but make it worth it (yes I'm talking to YOU Radiata Stories!) Same thing with Suikoden. Sure you can get 108 different people to join you, but how many of them either don't have a storyline at all, or support a deeper character's storyline? Chrono Trigger is a prime example of a game doing it right. You could really fight for anyone's cause (Except maybe Lucca.) If the optional character you can get was a former baddie, then that just adds to the appeal, not to mention adds insane depth to the storyline. (Hello Janus/Magus)
You don't see this kind of stuff anymore. These days it's all about the graphics, or the game is totally centered around an "innovative feature" that shouldn't be the core of the game. (Legend of Dragoon did this with their battle System) Graphics and innovations are great, but for the love of Mod, they SUPPORT the game. Remember the core things. YOu'll end up with a MUCH better game and something to be so much more proud of, not to mention a more satisfied customer.

Well I wasn't really worked up over it. But now i'm horribly depressed since everyones yelled at me and pointed out how stupid i am. *cries silently*
EDIT: And I never said i liked FFX ethier. I just think Al Bhed is kinda cool. And i like Auron and rikku and Seymour but that's it so blah. And my klingon sucks too and i haven't spoken it in at least 3 years....

The lamp heats the wax and then the wax floats up but when it gets to cold it starts to harden and come back down. |
