He usually tells you, however, cheap alternatives to the stuff that he's using. For example, in one of the chocolate episodes, he uses an infra-red thermometer, but he says that a regular one will do just fine. And, his thing seems to be using only the bare minimum of what you actually need. If you read his kitchen equipment book, he gives you a method for purging your entire kitchen of useless crap, so that you save both space and money.

I prefer Rachael Ray for teh hotness!

But seriously, you should try out some of AB's recipes. When you look them up on the Food Network website, they usually have very good reviews because they're just that great. And most of them aren't tough at all. If he has a recipe for something that I want to make, I'll use it exclusively over all others. For example, I only use his turkey brining, crepe, and creme brulee recipes...and they're all excellent.

I actally use a lot of AB's recipes. Mainly cause I'm a sucker for cookware. Razz

Ok so I finally watched Mr. Brown on Gaaz's televisiono last night.
I have to say it's pretty entertaining, even for someone like me who doesn't know the first thing about cooking. I did find myself agreeing with alot of the things he was saying. (The episode i'm referring to is the one where he's talking about broiling top sirloin and cutting against the grain so you don't chew the pieces into infinity which is something I dislike about steak).

Another problem with AB is the time to cook things are impractical.

He has a bread recipe that takes no less than 24 hours. His French toast requires 8 hours of bread drying for the type of custardy stuff he uses..Etc.

On one episode he addressed the problem by showing many quick dishes and such.

Also, he gets cuts of meat I've NEVER seen. The episode Ultrapuppy refers to is an episode entirely around "Skirt Steak." I've never SEEN Skirt Steak. Apparently it's a slightly lower grade flank steak but it's from a completely different part of the cow. Sooo, if I want to cook some of his cuisines I must venture to the Hippy "Whole Foods" store instead of a Kroger or Publix.

Aaaactually.....

Remember that dish that me and Tobs cooked for you guys last time we were down for AWA? It was called Ropa Vieja? Yup...that was skirt steak we used in it. And we got it at the Walmart supermarket that Josh took us to.
