See, I remember reading somewhere that it was just something temporary, and not a permanent thing. Just curious, where'd you get that info?

Yay, finally someone else who's not feeling nostalgic for Saved by the Bell! Oh, and I saw the bump that caused the [crappy 80's live action tv show network] change. Hate to say it, I agree with the dude - Robot Chicken's scraping in on the "stop motion animation = cartoon" idea, but Saved By The Bell just looks like they're running out of ideas (never mind that they're "replacing" Evangelion on Thursdays with Cowboy Bebop, which they've run through what, ten times?)
Oh, side note: http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/boondocks |

But, for me at least, and I am sure a number of other people, Cowboy Bebop never gets old. If you think about it, if they gave it a good time slot, it would probably get good ratings. That with it being run ALMOST continuously since 2001-2002. I'm glad that from time to time I can just flip on the TV and catch an episode without having to go out and buy the Box Set.
With regards to SBTB, I am having mixed feelings. They've started showing movies on Cartoon Network which are not cartoons, and I fear that eventually, especially with the renovated Cartoon Cartoon Friday's, they may start moving away from completely animated programming... which is what people find appealing about CN. With Adult Swim, I have a similar sentiment; I found a certain genre of programming with that block when it first came about, especially once they got some of the initial programming of that wasnt exactly as complex and adult oriented as they may have thought, Pilot Candidate anybody? They seem to be getting a bit smug, full of themselves, lazy. Six Ounce Mouse? Does anybody seriously like that show? Squidbillies annoys me to no end, as does that new Minoriteam show. They are NOT the makers of manners, and although they were once very astute at picking up on what was funny, they do not decide what is or is not funny. The AS Audience needs to make this clear and cry out for a return to AS normalcy! |

Saved by the Bell on Adult Swim is fine by me. Eva on Adult Swim was always kind of weird because they never really pushed it like they could. I mean it was just like oh yeah by the way we are showing eva. |

I think you make valid points Shammy, but I think a major thing that people aren't realizing is that Cartoon Network and Adult Swim really aren't the same things. I refuse to watch Cartoon Network because I think the programming sucks, and could care less what they do when it comes to airing live movies, etc. And yet, Adult Swim is one of the, maybe, four "channels" that I watch regularly. I think it's less of an issue that they show non-animated programming because, again, it's a different animal than Cartoon Network.
That being said, I complained a bit about Saved by the Bell at first, but I have found that I'm enjoying watching it and I think it's an ok addition to the line-up, albeit a bit unconventional. But I do agree that lately, AS has really dropped the ball as far as their original programming goes. Some of their stuff is really good, like The Venture Brothers, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021 (even though I'm not a big fan), Harvey Birdman, and the Boondocks. But their other stuff is pretty much crap, and I'm talking shows like 12 Oz. Mouse, Tom Goes to the Mayor, Perfect Hair Forever, Squidbillies, and Stroker and Hoop. I understand the fact that the people who watch AS enjoy and appreciate random, abstract humor. But the crap that they've made lately is just weird and confusing and just not funny.
So for that, I say that we need to cry out and tell them to get their act together. But as for Saved by the Bell, I think it's fine for now. We'll just have to see where they decide to take it. |
