Tips before, during, and post Kut-Ku

1)Upgrade weapons.

2)Full Battle Set (don't bother with velociprey set)

3) Watch Kut-Ku's attacks. His main attacks are running in a straight line, spitting fireballs, a bite attack and a tail swing. The tail swing is his MOST frequent move, therefore it is essential to learn how to dodge or block this attack. He will always swing counter-clockwise. Staying on Kut Ku's left side (HIS left) will ensure you safety from 90% of his attacks. DON'T GET GREEDY. When he starts swinging, make sure you're either in a position of safety or you've got a shield up to block the tail. Make sure of course that you're blocking facing the tail swing. It's most important not to be doing a combo when he starts swinging because you WILL NOT be able to finish the combo and still block. So don't get greedy with trying to inflict damage. As long as you stay on his left side you'll be safe.

4)Killing Kut Ku will grant you all sorts of fun prizes to make Kut-Ku armor which is a step up for a while. There's three pieces to the set: Chest, waist and gauntlets. After you've made all three pieces feel free to make subsequent Kut-Ku runs for the purposes of selling Kut-Ku parts because they sell for a decent amount.

5)After Kut-Ku armor, the next step will be steel/hi-metal parts using malachite ores. After that really, you CAN float by till Rathalos armor.

6)Weapon wise you'll start seeing a general division of weapons. Bone series weapons and Metal. Bone are INITIALLY more powerful, in the long run the metal lines are stronger. Bone weapons divide into elemental weapons as well which can be pretty awesome however Bone weapons DULL extremely fast. Metal weapons are generally much sharper and won't require as much sharpening. Remember that when weapons dull their attack strength is lower as well as the fact they can't pierce enemy skin as well. It does however depend on your weapon class.

7) If you're aiming for a great Sword and Shield, work towards the deathprize. If you're Lancing, go for the Babel Lance. I don't have much knowledge of the weapon types for the other trees.

You know I probably could...

Anywho a heads up on those nearing the Piscine Liver quest:
Lances work GREAT on this mission. Piscines are sand sharks in the desert and one of the most annoying quests is to collect their livers. They aren't too scary but they can be very hard to deal with. They like to circle around their areas on preset paths, occasionally breaking away to charge at you above the ground. The best way to deal with them are Sonic Bombs. Come loaded because they will make your life SOO much easier. You just throw a sonic bomb near one underground and they will flop onto the service, at which point you have a window of time in which to deal as much damage as you can. If you're good, you can take it out before it hops back in the sand. DO NOT LEAVE THEM ALONE. Because they will dive back into the sand. Be wary of the projectile sand attacks and tail spins.

Playing monster hunter is a little bit like Poker. You can tell what a monster will do by watching his actions. For instance, many dragons will flap their wings and do a short jump before taking to the air. Don't ignore the fact that a dragon roars and dismiss it because it TELLS you what it will do. This gives you just enough time to prepare yourself for what it will do. Regular monsters give clues too. Just be aware.

Reference:
Sonic Bomb= Gunpowder +Screamer
Gunpowder= Fire Herb + Nitroshroom
Screamer = Frog+Flute

I'd like to beat the Kut-Ku a few more times for the armor, but he's so freakin tough! If you use a flash bomb he keeps swinging his tail making it almost impossible to attack him. Barrel bombs don't seems to work as well as I'd like, and poison smoke bombs are usless. Pitfall traps wouldn't be so bad if you could take more than 1, and I've never gotten him to eat my poison meat....you know what I mean. Right know I have full Velocipray armor. The weapons I have are the Long Tusk (lance), Bone Spike (sword, shield), Bone (great sword), and Crystal Hammer (hammer). Any suggestions on how to take this guy down without to much hurt on my part? I appreciate the tip on his tail attack, but he's one tough son of a gun. And if you don't keep the pressure on him he'll escape to the area with Velociprey or Melynxs. Not that those little weasles are strong, but they'll take all your stuff. Even if you have Felvines, they still stop you.

GAAAAAAHHHH! I HATE YOU KUT-KU!!!
