I'm with Gaaz on this one too.
The reason I quit...
I started looking for the quest items for my subjob quest at level 16. That's pretty good. You get the quest at 18 right.
I remember I rolled a 96 or something on the last piece I needed and didn't win. I rolled in the 90s like 3 times and didn't get it.
By level 21, I still wasn't done, and no one would party with me to find it.
the lower level people said I killed there xp
the higher level people would say "Oh we finished that."
So I got screwed!.. and never played it again. |

I loved FFXI, I had a great time getting to 65 there with my red mage...
but...
how slow it is, and reliant on parties to make any progress, and the horrible grind, are what keeping me from going back, when I can have 10 toons per servers (no extra cost unlike FFXI) and can solo to my hearts delight on as many servers as I like on WoW...i just cant go back. I have my awesome memories, and I had a blast, but my heart and home lie in WoW now 
Also, I think the whole challenge thing is kind of a cop out. Anything is easy if you have a regular group/party/raid to do it with. WoW just allows you to solo a majority of the time if you want to, unlike FFXI, you HAVE to party for xp after lvl 10 pretty much. If you want a challenge, actually make your way to 60, then work on finding a competant raid group/guild and attack AQ, BWL, MC, ONY, ZG, etc. I cant tell you the awesome feeling of conquering these places as a team after working hard to progress.  |

I MISS FFXI ; 3 ; I only quit because I need to concentrate on university stuff.
FFXI is teamwork orientated, it incourages player-player interraction and there is a very nice community. I had a great time and I felt part of the world : D
I don't really see the point of playing alone on a mass multiplayer game. I have tried WoW and it didn't grip me 
I have noticed that you either love one or the other (Wow or FFXI, I mean) o.o
I want to return, but what FFXI requires is time, and that I don't have : ( |
