That'd be because I look twelve without at least the goatee. I used to have a full beard up until about 1999; I tried trimming it to a goatee once in 1998 and screwed up so badly I had to shave it all off.
Now my nickname with my friend Alejandra is forever "Pudgy Cheeks".
Tried shaving it off again last year when I lost some weight. Yeah, I looked stupid.
So I'm keeping the goat, no matter who complains of scratchiness or how many grey hairs I find in it (I'm up to eight now, but I keep plucking them out)... |

My wife was the same way. However, she realized that if I shaved every day that by the time five o'clock hit my face would turn into a piece of human sandpaper. If I keep the whiskers a bit long, then they aren't nearly so bad.

Murr. I've noticed the sandpaper-y ness, but it's not nearly as bad as when the goatee gets too long. I don't know why. Plus, I like the way the goatee looks, but it took me a bit to even get to that point. I still prefer guys without facial hair for the most part. ^^ |

It's true that most of us look like babies without it, though. I magically go from looking 25 to 15 in 20 turns of the razor. I know what you mean about the long hair, though. Even I don't like it getting too long. Starts to itch and such.

I concur. I've sometimes gone a week or so without shaving due to laziness, but after that time, it gets nearly unbearable. I end up scratching my face for most of the day. I do, however, like my look with a bit of a 5 o'clock shadow. It makes me look more rugged and fits me pretty well. I don't think UP is much of a fan of it though...for the scratchy reasons that everyone's been mentioning.
I've never really been a facial hair person anyway, although way back in college, I grew out some crazy sideburns (think almost mutton chops), but that was the extent. I still have sideburns, because I think I look stupid without them, but that's the extent of my "facial" hair, and they're very tame and respectable. And now that I have a new job, I won't have the opportunity to grow anything. |
