Quite aware of that. But if it Mimics Tivo, and does HD as well, it just became MORE than worth the price. Personally, I think the price of the PS3 is excellent for what you get... IF you want all that right now. I... just don't. But I do want an HD Tivo. So if this turns out to be a Tivo replacement (which honestly I doubt) I'm all over it! And as Grallik said... they can't say "Tivo" b/c it's a brand and TMed...

I don't see how this could possibly be true. You can't have a game in development officially until you get the dev kit IMO. Dev kits went out only like 4 months ago. So chances were that they had something being developed that they HOPED would work, then they got the dev kit and had to make fast last minute adjustments that may have impacted on game quality.
It's all about the Fast, Cheap, Quality triangle. They had to finish the game fast. Cost was set, so quality suffered. As is true with all system launches.

There were a couple things that were more noticible (such as logos and textures) that looked better on the 360. And some 360 games had a better framerate. Just going by reports of what I read in reviews and some articles.
Granted they were only in 720p, but 1080p isn't fully supported for some of the games (on both sides). |
Come on Rune, you know as well as I do that entire article meant nothing. In the long run, in most cases they were comparing 360 games, to 360 ports. Of course it's not going to look as good. The fact that the launch games look THAT good to begin with is amazing. Tell me this... why not compare RR7 to RR6! THAT would be a fair comparison. They are both launch titles. Madden 07 on the ps3 to Madden 06 on the 360. They've had a year to fine tune with the dev kits right in front of them for Madden. So to compare something they know how to use to something that they are still learning how to use is a little rediculous to me.
In a year, I have no doubt that you will see ps3 games that start looking better than 360 games. Also, in several cases, I personally liked the way the ps3 did things over the 360. For instance... NFSC, I thought the lighting on the 360 was... way overboard. But again, this is just my opinion.

Yes and no... they said that GTHD was going to be a free download in Japan, it's possible we will get the same treatment.
I feel inclined to defend the PS3 in situations like this. Not Sony mind you. They are just pissing me off with some of their comments and decisions.
I'm not sure if I agree 100% with Grallik about his standings, but I do think Nintendo will win!
The PS3 and 360 I think will be behind it, but fighting for the 2nd spot. Both systems are amazing and it will come down to preference of games. I would expect the PS3 to pull out into 2nd for 1 reason only... JAPAN! 360 just isn't selling. Even with the Blue Dragon package they were running. They still only sold a TOTAL of 70K copies of Blue Dragon.
There are 2 things that are still keeping my hopes alive for the PS3 gaming wise...
1) They have stated that Killzone for PS3 is EXCEEDING expectations.
2) The RPG that I saw a video of a while back. White Knight or something like that. I'll have to find it. |

Not what I was trying to convey. We know the games are going to look better in the future. We know the PS3 will surpass the 360. However, what I was more going for was the fact was out now. Remember, the general population is impulsive. And with the things that are shown in that article can be a factor. Also, the PS3 should be able to handle these games at the same quality, but they aren't at times. That is what I was going for. Not that 360 looks better than PS3. For all the comments and remarks made before about superiority of this system, I felt that it is a fair cricism. Granted I do admit that this is also to company that sometimes just doesn't know when to stop with comments (like 360 not being a true HD system BS or that they have the better online network without truly showcasing it), but you raise the expectations to high, you should also expect more harsh criticisms. Hopefully, they should hear these type of criticisms so they can improve the thing.
The graphics were more of an off comment for those who already have a 360 in the present especially since that one thing Sony was trying to get across (that and 1080p support...which isn't fully there either). As I stated in the first comment I had said about my opinion of Resistance, Sony needs to have the better software and not just have most of the same games. As a 360 owner myself, I currently don't want one because of what is already available (Resistance is as much of a system seller to me as Call of Duty 2 was at launch on the 360...both were amazing high quality games, but not really fully enough). This decision could very well change when/if the titles come out.
This console war will not be won on graphics (Wii proves that already). This war will be won on games. Currently, I feel 360 is winning that so far. I know most people throw in "but the future titles this and the future titles that," but I have learned to full blown listen to hype. Most of time, I think Lewis Black said it best with "Nothing is greater than the anticapation. Too bad what you were anticipating will probably suck. That is why it is better to plan something, anticipate it, and then do nothing."
While on subject of future games....

1) Call me a naysayer. Call me a fanboy. But I am still on the feeling of "I will believe when I see it" when it comes to Killzone 2. And I still feel that instead of "Halo Killer," they should go for "We swear it is not going to seem mediocre this time." They are putting this series on a pedestal when it really isn't that good. Sorry, but that is just my opinion on the game so far especially without any new footage since we say what was shown at E3.
2) White Knight, however, was the first real PS3 game that I felt floored me. I was amazed to see that trailer and that is an example the quality I need to see before I can be convinced to buy a PS3. If more and more games come out like that for the PS3, then it will be worth it.
But all in all, this will be a very close and tough fought battle. |

I have no disagreements with what you have said. However I still don't think the comparisons that Gamespot did were fair. Since, as I said, most of the games were just ported to ps3.
And I agree that this race will not be won by graphics.
I will also say that I'm very annoyed with and pissed about the way Sony is handling themselves. |
