See, but the thing is, if this is a "discussion" it should not degenerate into a flame war. I think you're getting the two mixed up. While you are entitled to your opinion, so is Nacht. But your callous disregard for her opinion is what can ultimately lead this now civil "discussion" into a "flame war". And just because you don't agree doesn't mean that the discussion should end at your discretion. She obviously feels strongly about this subject, and this forum is an opportunity for her to voice her opinions. | all i meant was i was tired and would soon get stupid and start a war. the message i entered was version 4 i think since i was very frustrated with the information since it did not have a source she was citing though i might have missed it in my initial read. now i don't want to get anyone angry from this but the facts don't match with my experiences with slaughterhouses and handling the harvesting of meat. |

the source i am citing is the film footage taken over the last few years by various hidden cameras and made public.
go to isawearthlings.com to see how they got their video.
dloe: if you have first hand current knowledge of conditions of slaughterhouses in ga, i would love to hear it. i will concede that yes a lot of this footage was edited to only show extreme cases, but that doesn't change that it happened and is still happening. i would assume that most of the meat sold here was processed and grown/raised here. there is a chicken farm right next me in woodstock. also, i did not say that we created ebola, if i did that is a gross misprint. we created pfisteria by allowing waste from pig farms to flow into nearby water sources. if you look at aerial views of some of these farms, you can see where it has run out all around the buildings.
i think that we CAN change how we are affected by the people around us. if there is no longer a demand for this type of slaughter, they would be forced to change. these factories are not held accountable, nor are they monitored.
if you don't want to think about the cruelty itself, think about what is actually happening during this manner of slaughter. we know that ecoli comes from cow feces contamination. if the animal is still alive to thrash around after its throat is cut, it is slinging blood everywhere! allowing the blood to wash the stuff down their bodies and into their wounds. the cows specifically are sent right into the chopping machines. do you really think they WASH the feces off of these cows before they are fed to us? no, that would take too much time. due our demand for this product, they must process these animals as quickly as possible. no time for cleanliness. and i will reiterate: who is WATCHING them? where are the standards. our vegetables and meat are contaminated, and no one seems to be doing anything about it or paying any attention. i can't imagine feeding my daughter ecoli due to someone's sheer incompetence. it is easier for people to turn a blind eye, but we will pay for it in the end by poisoning ourselves.
you gotta do the best you can, yah know? if it is available to you to make organic purchases, do so. you will be healthier for it. fawkes and dloe live right here in ga with me. i know how to get organic vegetables, but i am not sure how to get organic meat. it will take some research. |

DLOE, the slaughterhouses you've experienced probably don't deal in the really really cheap produce, which is the stuff I think Nacht is talking about. As I said in my post, the BBC did a Panorama investigation last year I think it was and uncovered the same sort of thing happening in Britain, farmers wrote in and complained that this just wasn't how it was, but the footage was real, there are slaughterhouses like those depicted in both productions (although I've not seen the one Nacht mentions) and this is the food that those on really low budgets are eating, which isn't good for them at all, they might aswell go out and eat bloody Turkey Twizzlers than that stuff. |
