I remember the first ever HD TV we got. My father had just moved the family to California because of his job and the minute he heard "HD", he thought it was the most awesome thing since sliced bread. So he picks up an XBox-sized mammoth of a widescreen HDTV for five thousand bucks(!)
Now here's the funny part: There was only one HD channel available. It was only available on cable. And it was a crappy food channel.
Even today... The only console to really boast about HD is the PS3 (and it's justified; the demos of Gran Turismo HD are gorgeous.) TV-wise, we get only about a dozen channels in HD, and only for a select few programs.
(And of course, social has to get in the way. I've been called a n00b once for not caring for HD.) |

I plan on foraying into the next generation of television this year. I have a 25 hundred dollar budget in mind, I wont go lower than a 42" screen, but maybe by mid year or early august I can think about a 50 in that price range?
When it comes to the rest of te HD stuff, Ill need help knowing what ot look for, so Ill be coming straight to the source for information, Miniopia. |

The speakers in my cheapass TV are starting to splutter a bit...... oooh dear, we cant really afford a replacement! even though theres a 26 inch HD "ready" (i know its not proper HD) flatscreen tv for £300 (haha less than a PS3!) in Argos at the moment. |
