Ok, reprogramming droids into your minions = awesome.
I also really like that you had to play a mini-game to do it
At the end of the demo, they show you some clips from the game and what you can do, something I saw that was really neat was using telekinesis to move a wire trap set up and electrifying it to setup an electric trip wire. Awesome! |

I played through it on easy... now I need to go back and play it on normal.
I haven't played an FPS in so long... I needed to make sure I got some of my bearings back. Yeah it was too easy. I picked up so many freakin' first aid kits!
And yeah, this game does feel just like an FPS unfortunatly. That may take away some of the joy for me. But overall I thought it was cool. It makes it better that you don't have to actually SHOOT them most of the time.
Oh... hey look... they are standing in water... ZAP!
I wonder how you reprogram the droids. Do you use the bolt plasmid to do it. I haven't tried it yet.
There was no Big Daddy to fight on Easy... is there one on normal, and what's the strat to killing it? |

No Big Daddy to kill in the demo.
With the bots, zap them with your bolt plasmid, then walk upto them and hit X, now from here you can pay to hack them, or play a pipe mini game where you have to guide liquid to a certain point. |

Nice... thanks brother.
What about the gun turret in the bathroom. Can you reprogram that? |

I played Bioshock for about 3+ hours on Friday night at a friends house.
I gotta say I wasn't impressed. The game was pretty and things did happen but meh...Wasn't that great.
It seems that in order to progress in the game you had to do WAY too much stuff for a normal FPS.
Also when you killed a leadhead splicer in one area and went against another on the same level one of them would take about 3 shotgun shells to the face and the other will take a single blast from the same gun from the other side of the room.
I dunno, it looked like a good game but not something I'd be willing to pick up really. If the same enemies required the same tactics barring environment of course I'd enjoy it more.
Hacking was fun though. Not as fun as Cyberia from the 90's or Shadowruns hacking from back on the Genesis days but it was a nice addition.
I did like that people would ask you for help while they tried to kill you or that the Spider Slicers were constantly trying to hug/have sex with you while throwing death blades at you. Added for a creepier atmosphere but the novelty runs out quickly as the same thing is spouted by the same enemy each time they attack you.
I never got to see any of the children get freed or reaped or whatever so can't comment on that.
Overall I could see playing the game for maybe 2 more hours more than I have then letting it collect some dust. |
