well, if it is a live action 3D movie, I think i'd rather not see it, and i think you're right GAAZ...its gonna go down with a big pffbt.
But still, spielburn is going to rake in some more cash with this one. |

SCORE!!!
Off topic:
I liked the Transformers movie and I think the real thing to remember here is that it was the first installment. In the first episodes of the Transformers cartoon there were only like 5 Autobots total! The rest were intro'ed later. Now that they've established the characters the next installment will have to focus on a bigger storyline and probably make the Transformers more of a central thing. Robb is right. The movie was character driven and first-timers needed something to identify with, ergo humans. Even in the later episodes of Transformers Roddimus Prime had two humans (appropriately enough a young man and a young woman) that hung out with the Autobots, primarily him and Karr. These two were always getting in deep water with the Decepticons and the Autobots would always have to come and save their tails. It's formulaic, and it works. They've laid the groundwork and now, hopefully, they can get on to the main event that we all want to see: big robots dukin' it out for the fate of our galaxy!

As for the actual topic here, I can't wait. The one 'Ghost In The Shell' anime I saw bored the crap outta me and was very anti-climatic with very little explanation about what was really going on. They fought a giant crab mech and she lost her arms being stupid. So what?! I'm looking forward to seeing what Speilberg does for the series and I hope it's good or I'll have wasted another hour and a half of my life on a franchise that I really want to like. I say what about an APPLESEED or BUBBLEGUM CRASH or DIRTY PAIR redux?! |

Bubblegum Crash was horrible...Get off mah PO!
You might have meant Bubblegum Crisis.
Ghost in the Shell was kinda hard to follow when you watch the English dub version. Not much is explained.
It's kinda like watching "Blade Runner" If you watch the theatrical release Harrison Ford is telling you EVERYTHING that is going on. In the Directors cut you ain't told shit and haveta think about it on your own.
Actually that was a bad comparison as the American one kinda changed the story...Which I guess does work cause the story in the theatrical BR was a lil' different at least for the ending.
Basically Ghost in the Shell was written to define what a soul is. Can a machine have a soul? Kusanagi had a machine body and human brain...She questioned her soul or "ghost" because she never actually SAW her human brain. She was told she had one and believed she did.
Kusanagi then met the "Puppet Master" who had all the qualities of a soul but was actually an AI program that has grown sentience. She began to wonder if she was ever alive or if she was just told she was. Much like in Blade Runner when the reploids were told they were human to keep them at peace. |
