Is the story of the movie something about the switching of the poles?
We learned about that in physics and it SEEMS like whats going on from the previews. |

Seeing it tonight.
Man I can't wait... this movie looks visually awesome.
Being the computer nut I am, I always look forward to new movies that show how we have reached a new milestone in the use of computers for sfx.
The story matters, but if the sfx are good, I will be glad I saw it even if the story is bad...
ya know... kinda like Spawn.
The cape and chains were cool... but that was about it. |

Armageddon was a pretty cool movie. AND AEROSMITH WAS ON THE SOUNDTRACK (with 'I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing') SO +A BAJILLION POINTS TO IT <3333
This movie plot-wise looks slightly cliche (I'm sure it's pretty original though), but it looks pretty cool. Independence Day was good, so yeah. My mom wants to go see it...
And what are you talking about? This "voice"? o_O |

OK, I just got back from the movie, like just now, so heres the scoop.
Summery (NO Spoilers)
The Atlantic current goes bonkers, making the northern icecap break off and cause drastic weather pattern changes over ***EDITED FOR SPOILER CONTENT*** amount of time. This makes hugamungous storms occur all over ***EDITED FOR SPOILER CONTENT***.
Story (8/10)
Kudos to the screenwriters on creating a very beliveable story revolving around quite a number of chracters during the events of the storm. The flow of the story is very sensible and flys between a web of charcters to weave a story of survival and of defeat. Some of the chracters you only know for a few minutes, some you get to keep until the end of the movie, but all well told and believable. I granted only 8/10 Daijaga Points because I wasnt impressed with the two lead female roles and a few small plot points I found that perturbed me.
FX (10/10)
There should really be no big surprise here - the FX are nothing short of incredible. Pan shots of the storms from space, tornados in L.A., water flooding NYC, all brilliant. With all the attention givin to destroying the world, however, a group of four animated wolves that play a minor role were aweful. Would it have killed you to pick of the phone and have PIXAR do them? I also was slightly unimpressed with the super rapid freezing tha happens a couple of times in the movie, but since I've never seen something freeze in under a second, I really dont have a point of reference, so Ill have to assume its pretty accurate. Those are only two very small points in a very very large, beutiful picture.
Score (8/10)
NO heart wrenching songs, nothing to write home about, but you wont be going "ugh" either. The score seems so naturally part of the movie, you'll never even notice it.
Final Word: You can rent this one if you want to pass it up, but its not the same as having the surround sound experience. I suggest saving your cash for Shrek 2 and Arthur, but if those aren't your genre', this is something fun to watch this weekend. |

Actually the atlantic current goes bonkers AFTER the glacier breaks because the glacier adds too much fresh water to the Salt water ocean thus disturbing the balance.
At this point the Earth decides to fix itself by freezing a buncha water in other places in order to get rid of all this pesky Fresh water.
I liked the movie..Lotsa sciency nuggets and suspensefull doohickeys. And if yer in a theater with good sounds there's one part where there's a buncha ice cracking or forming or whatever and it SOUNDS like it's happening IN the theater...All they needed to do for a more realistic experience was drop the temp of the theater as the movie played on. |

The science community has been trashing this movie pretty badly it seems. I dunno I might still go and see it but I was hoping for some scientific accuracy. |
